I'm not into cars at all but I started watching top gear recently and the show does a lot of cool challenges where the cast has to build some sort of custom car or race to somewhere. The old cast had good chemistry and there was lots of silly banter.
Someone who isn't into cars might not like watching the new car reviews they do but those can be interesting too but a little dull if you're watching an episode that came out years ago and that car isn't remotely new anymore.

The last 2 or 3 seasons have been dramatic improvements over the first couple. They stopped trying to be a carbon copy of the original and do their own thing now. I enjoy the show for what it is. I really like how all three hosts are into different types of cars and areas of automotive culture. Adam is into classic American cars, Tanner is into supercars and high-end performance cars, and Rutledge is into weird and obscure cult vehicles.
The only thing that I don't really like is how it's obviously scripted so that Tanner almost always wins. He's a professional racing driver, so they trust him more with the expensive cars that the "winner" gets to drive.
