BvS total cost = $600 million.
Worldwide Gross (as of March 29) = $500 million

When producers invest $600 million into such a huge project, they usually expect to get at least double their money back.
BvS won't exceed $750 million worldwide.

DC and Snyder are fucked.

Deadpool was a masterpiece compared to this turd, it cost less than $60 million and made more than $350 million - almost 6 times the budget.

>According to Deadline, the film needs to turn over a profit of between $925 - $930 million in its theatrical run alone (before any ancillaries such as TV syndication, DVD sales etc).

>However, once all revenue streams are accounted for, the superhero brawler looks set to turn a minimum profit of at $207.9 million. A source added how “It will not make a profit in the way that Zootopia (global Box Office $698M, cost $150M) or Deadpool (global Box Office $746M, cost $58M) have.”

They're trying really hard to cover up the turd smell with Marvel records. Remember, this was suppose to be their Avengers, and it's nowhere near avengers numbers.

>>
>>67676020
I don't think that's ever the case unless your movie is real niche, which BvS isn't even close to being. There was always gonna be autistic comic book fans trying to convince people it's good whether it was bad or mediocre.
>>
>tfw finally got to watch it yesterday
it was awesome lads, better than any capeshit movie before. It has its flaws but at least it's a serious take on the super hero genre instead of the same formula that Marvel applies to all their movies and that got stale after the first Avengers.
>>
I dont remember any succesful movie being so complicated in explaining why its a succes, especially when people are walking out for having to wait for something to happen.
>>
>>67676057
p&a = purchase and assumption
(up front purchase of rights to exhibit)
home entertainment = self explanatory
(production and distribution of VOD, bluray, DVDs)
Residuals = funds they pay the production co.s and staff after the fact. i.e. money they still owe in royalties or options.
>>
I can't wait for parents to stop taking their kids to this movie. Shit is incredibly unsuited for kids, complete with jump scares.

Lex Luthor behaving like The Joker is intentional. The entire point of the movie is to show that the Superman mythos belongs to no one and everyone at the same time. This is the historical baggage that Snyder is aware these characters carry: An endless barrage of fanboys and comics since the 30's, comparison to other iconic characters, everyone thinking they have the last word on how these characters act.

It compares Superman to Christ, Moby Dick, King Arthur, Zorro, JFK, etc. Batman is compared with Ahab and Charles F. Kane. It compares Doomsday with a fire spouting dragon, King Kong, a falling meteorite, a nuclear holocaust, etc. So naturally it does the same with Lex (Zuckerberg). There are many more comparisons with the Nolan trilogy. For instance, the Batmobile scene ends up in him running into Superman, while in the Nolan version he decides to spare the Joker on his motorcycle. The Gotham football team's uniform is the same color in both films. Lois Lane and Rachel are dropped from a skyscraper.
It's a deconstruction and analysis of the characters themselves.
The film thrives on these types of associations, like the red Jolly Rancher pushed into the senator's mouth - "it's cherry" - coming back as the blood dripped onto Zod's face, the red graffiti on Superman's monument and his slashed cheek, not to mention the nods to internet culture and memes. It's precisely this uncomfortable reevaluation and redemption of sugary pop imagery that drives the film. "Snyder intends to resolve the conflict between commerce and art," as Armond White notes. The basic thesis is that Superhero franchises are antithetical to what Superman actually stands for.

The fact that not a single character behaved the way fanboys expected just proves the point that all this was intentional.

The movie reportedly cost around 600m to make, I assume the additional 325m comes from marketing which is not included in the initial budget of the movie.

Deadpool cost $58million to make but more was spent on marketing. A Lot of Deadpool's their marketing was billboard and internet based which is probably a lot cheaper than the constant TV ads BvS was doing.

Except most people won't be willing to go watch a movie they perceive as below average "just to understand it better."

First it's 800 million then it's 600 million

All these come from places like fucking Latino Review and aren't legitimate sources to begin with.

MoS made $160m through product placement, which covered roughly 2/3rds of production costs before release. How the fuck did it only make $42m profit?

I went back along with some friends seeing it for the first time. There's more detail to catch, and having spoken with some other people, there was even some that they caught and I still missed.

One thing that I'm still waiting on an explanation for is what appears to be Batman encountering the Flash while he was apparently still asleep. I guess you could explain it as him sleeping while the Flash was present in the Cave ghost-like, having to shout at Bruce to try to wake him up and the info he was shouting was just getting incorporated into Bruce's dream. Whatever the case, it seemed to be taking a real effort on the Flash's part just to make contact, which I think is kind of cooler than him just OP being able to step through time like it's nothing.

The flash sequence wasn't a dream. That's all there is to it, there's no hidden meaning behind it. The speedforce just ko'd bruce and he woke up shortly after. You can still notice papers flying around the batcave when he wakes up the second time.

It was a 7/10 movie at best, but the callous destruction of Mercy Graves made me hate the film.

Looks like P&A is short-term loans to actually make the film prints and to run ads. They're the ones who get paid first after release, which is why they're top of the list on movie costs after production.

She would've been more likeable if she got into a fight with Bruce Wayne or something and showed off her skills.

Especially since they made her Asian.

This has to be the most constantly marketed "successful" movie looking at it's numbers I've ever seen. Even Force Awakens wasn't coming out with new articles every fucking day talking about it breaking a new record or dropping a new rank or some shit
>>

Yeah, I'm still trying to decide what makes more sense to me - him getting KO'd upon awakening, or the Flash being responsible for the entire sequence, premonition included, but just not being able to physically reach over and wake Bruce for some reason.

I have no doubt that the papers flying around was to show us that the Flash really had been physically present, but I also have no doubt that we were meant to infer that whatever he was doing to make it possible wasn't at all easy for him. Personally, I'm thinking it might be some old-school "cosmic treadmill" stuff and it'll turn out that the device only works as long as he's powering it, which means pulling out all his stops and going full-on "MAXIMUM EFFORT" just to snap back to his origin point the instant he gives out.
