You don't need formal training to analyze art on meaningful way but it does require critical way of looking at the art.
And there is ton of books on the subject, you basically read one about text analysis that covers poems, plays and novels you can apply that knowledge to a lot of non-text art as well.

I did not imply that, I just said the basics are the same and that by picking really any fucking book about analyzing art will help you tremendously in analyzing some other form of art. Mainly because you have the mindset and tools to do it in more meaningful way after being exposed to it.
