Okay just saw this movie and now I know what the critics were talking about because it was pretty fucking atrocious to anyone with at least half a brain.

I'm just gonna try and go through scene by scene or at least the main shit to show why it was fucking bad.

First we open with a pretty blatant retcon of the last movie with non stop corny and horrible contrived scene, first we open with a few explosions with Zod and Superman destroying some buildings then Batman runs in calling up some random faggot and tells him to get out of the building, this man who didn't seem to notice the 20 or buildings that have blown up right behind him tells everyone to get out a few minutes later not only did he not leave the building but he actually is one the exact same floor and room from a few minutes ago he then prays so the audience can prepare for the uh very subtle religious Jesus imagery of superman for the next 2 hours.

Later on Batfleck finds a man under a building who keeps yelling cliches like muh legs I can't feel muh legs, this man for some reason will waste the movies runtime with his non stop pointless scenes, next we have some random little girl we never see again in some contrived sadness scene, at this point I'm already yawning in the cinema.

So later wheelchair muh legs dude climbs a big statue of Superman to put grafitti on it but I'm sitting there just wondering why on earth would there be big tax payer paid statue for superman in the first place? Everyone in this fucking movie hates Superman and justifiably because he's a completely obnoxious prick who basically murdered thousands of people, answers to nobody, seems to have a scowl on his face when he saves people in depressing slow motion and he's also a pretty laughable hypocrite to Batman who he seems to hate because he does the same things he does but in a different city. So why does he have a big ass expensive statue anyway? In fact in this movie he seems to be on trial for something to do with some terrorists which doesn't make any fucking sense btw.

Okay lets go to Batman scenes now, okay so he keeps having these random ass dreams that really have no purpose and feel like they belong in another movie the worst of these is easily the scene where Batman in a trench coat fighting some wanna be Nazis who work for superman, not sure if you can get movie heavy handed and laughable than this, then this scene ends with somehow even worse scene with some random ass fucking faggot out of no where in a monitor fucking screaming at Batman for what must of been 10 minutes I literally could not stop laughing at this horrible fucking scene.

Other horrid scenes with Batman in this movie include when he's uh hacking Lex Luthor computer and an anorexic Chinese woman who had 2 lines in the movie tells him the bathroom is upstairs and then just walks off, he later comes back to this room he's not allowed to be in because there is no security at all, this nonsense leads to him eventually discovering Wonder Woman in one of shittiest reveals ever.

There's also obvious all the scenes where Batman goes around torturing and murdering people when the fight eventually came I began to wonder which of these evildoers I should root for.

Batman seems as though he's gonna win but then he learns Superman's mommy has the same name as his and they immediately become best friends because Batman no longer gives a shit about why he was fighting him to begin with

Next Lex Luthor which was easily the worst character assassination in the movie.

So he hates Superman for reasons that are never really explained or make sense, so he comes up some random ass convoluted ways to try and kill him or maybe not?

For instance there was scene in a courtroom where superman is on trial for something to do with some terrorists than Lex Luthor hired or something but they blame Superman for for some reason, well in this scene Lex Luthor uses a man in a wheelchair to blow the courtroom up, Superman who is the only survivor with thousands dead around just makes a face like he's farted or something.

So I thought here okay so Lex Luthor is trying to frame Superman here right? Well uh no actually no one blames Superman at all which makes me wonder what the point of it was other than more random explosions? Well it guess it leads to another bullshit dream sequence but this time with Superman's dad on top of a mountain chopping wood saying things that didn't really seem to relate to anything happening in the movie.

We learn as well later Lex Luthor has been sending Batman random messages insulting him that he has never actually read to try and get him to hate superman I think? Well Batman seems to suddenly know that he's being used by Lex Luthor and then steals Kryponite from him off screen so he can go fight superman anyway.

Lex Luthor seems happy about this even though his like a 100 of men died earlier stopping murderman (batman) getting the kyrponite.

Lex then decides he's gonna kidnap supermans mom and girlfriend.

Superman can sense his girlfriend from a million miles away for some reason but not his mother.

Lex Luthor tries to challenge superman here and force him to kill Batman who he now hates too for some reason by giving his mother a 30 minute time limit he never tells Superman this though.

It took me awhile to get over the denial that Jesse was Lex while I was watching the film. I went in blind to be unbiased as possible and tried to judge it alone and not on previous Bat or DC movies and more of the source. I was disappointed how they portrayed Lex, I thought they were gonna make Lex a big charismatic dude that was also intimidating and a brilliant strategist.
>>
>>67652452
I thought Luthor's motivations for wanting to kill Superman were pretty clear. He's paranoid that Superman will turn dictator and nobody will be able to stop him.

One of those absolute power corrupts absolutely things. So he's taking preemptive action.

>>
>>67652775
>Lex Luthor seems happy about this even though his like a 100 of men died earlier stopping murderman (batman) getting the kryponite.
He probably ordered those men to bring him the kryptonite with the plan to get it to batman later. The random goons knew nothing about this so they fought to protect the item they were delivering.

This movie made me really uncomfortable. Something about the strange way it's edited, the overt religious imagery, the out of place dream sequences, the lack of convincing character motivations, and the looming threat of world destruction from both Superman and DC's big bad made the whole movie seem kind of surreal. He hates Superman because he hates any individual with extreme power over him. This stemmed from his father's abuse and was expressly mentioned in the movie.

The "Superman did it" idea would not have held up, due to a combination of both security footage in a government office and the fact that anyone looking after the fact could easily see the origin of the explosion. Getting the idea across that Superman will not always be able to protect people is a far more tenable case. Moreover, it made Superman directly question himself.

I'd say the worst affront is why Batman went full retard and attempted to kill Superman over the inadvertent damage to his building from Superman's fight with Zod.

To expand on that a bit, Luthor was the guy providing those hired mercs and the armament the warlord was using. When Supes showed up, they acted on what appear to have been standing orders to execute all the warlord's loyal henchmen, then take off to massacre the town.

From what I understand, there's a longer, uncut scene that details this.

I just saw it and noticed how sloppy it was.

Batman deduced that Doomsday had kyrptonian dna and needed to use the spear. Then magically Lois knew without given ANYTHING to base her deduction on other than seeing a big monster thing from afar. Then when Superman pulls her out of the water he automatically knows that she was going for the spear and the spear was in the water.

Also why the fuck couldn't wonder woman use the spear on doomsday? She was strong enough to cut his limbs off with her Sword of Social Justice so why didn't they just have her use the spear on him and not let superman because the the kryptonite fucked with him.

"The big wigs were reportedly so impressed with the film, that they gave it a standing ovation."

MoS was alright. It had great moments. And I think Sndyer is a visionary, and Goyer can do great work. But I want to hunt down who are these big wigs at DC who think they can pull off their executive meddling, and turn what should have been a one to two story movie into a four in one movies.

What really pisses me about the movie was the hamfisted nods to the Justice League movie, the dread of a Darkseid future, ambiguous Flash timetravel. I get it DC. You want to get Darkseid out before Marvel reveals Thanos. You don't have to beat us into submission and force your cock down out throat just to get that point across.

So fuck you DC. And fuck the capekino meme and DCucks too.

Thank you, I dont think it was a masterpiece but the only problems i have is with Lux's acting, not necessarily plot holes or character motive. I actually think the character motive was done well and if you think its not then i have to say you should pay attention to all "The things that didn't make sense to me"
>>
>>67662538
i saw the movie on monday and this was so funny to me, that i had heard that superman was all wrong or that he's sad or the plot doesn't make any sense and what i saw was something entirely different,
furthermore, the fact that not a single one of these scathing reviews ever addressed the overt messages of the movie, it was always some aspect of the movie that they picked apart and said, this is bad! with no reason why
the way it looks is bad! i didn't like character! the plot! the doomsday fight!
all the while i was picking up all these ideas verbally and visually and was wondering what the fuck was going on, not even in defense of the movie but just wondering why there was such a big disconnect between what i had read and what i was actually seeing.
how had this movie become as hated as it had been, especially since it also seemed that no one had payed attention to it all? this whole situation is bizarre as fuck

Hey at least the Darkseid tease is handled better than Thanos teases.

>Darkseid
>Show off hellish landscape under his rule, yet avoid showing him
>Have the main villain of the film scared shitless of him, like a child, realizing there is nothing that can be done, we're all dead.
>End on the ominous warning of "He's coming, he's hungry"

>Thanos
>End credits scene, he just smiles
>Shows up without any drama, he's just there in Guardians of the Galaxy, he'll never get a grand reveal now
>Another end credits teaser of him grabbing the gauntlet.

Say what you want, at least Darkseid has this mystery around him, and if DC doesn't fuck up, they can do a much bigger reveal of him than Thanos.
>>
>>67652775
>Superman can sense his girlfriend from a million miles away for some reason but not his mother.
Because Lois Lane puts herself in danger all the time so Superman has to look after her unlike his mother who lives alone on a quiet farm life.
>>
>>67666218
that's actually straight up a coincidence superman has to already be close for him to be able to intervene, this after he had been missing for a week
>>
>ARE YOU A TERRORIST?
>>
>>67666193
>>Show off hellish landscape under his rule, yet avoid showing him

Except it wasn't his rule it was SUPERMAN's rule. A dark twister superman rule. And it didn't outright suggest that Darkseid was controlling Superman, it just had a big Omega symbol. To a nonDCfan, it means nothing

>>Have the main villain of the film scared shitless of him, like a child, realizing there is nothing that can be done, we're all dead.
>>End on the ominous warning of "He's coming, he's hungry"

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING

If they wanted to do that, they should have included this scene:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-MUzvASr8s

The problem was that it was Luthor telling. he was not SHOWING.

~

>>Thanos
>>End credits scene, he just smiles

It works, because the focus of the Avengers was on Loki's invasion of Earth. To shoehorn in Thanos for most of the film would take away from Loki's presence. Having Thanos smile at the end was enough to show that there was a larger world to the MCU after the invasion

>>Shows up without any drama, he's just there in Guardians of the Galaxy, he'll never get a grand reveal now

Him smiling was enough of a grand reveal

>>Another end credits teaser of him grabbing the gauntlet.

I'll grant you that one. Then again, a lot about AoU could be better.

~

There's no mystery to Darkseid. If they had included the communion scene, I'd half agree, but what DC showed as basically a lot of telling and ambiguity, without showing.

Marvel at least had it right by showing Thanos, and making him seem minor GotG. The real reveal is what he actually does, with the Infinity Gauntlet.

Will DC fuck up Thanos's big reveal? I don't know. The future is not mine to see.

Couple of dumb things.

-Lois ditching the spear and getting it again.

-The super friends trailers in the movie.

-A scene of batman stealing in which he fails. This is immediately followed by a scene of him having succeeding. Why did we need the first scene?

-Lex's character being so wrong. Justified by a laughable throwaway line. Not to mention his nonsense motives.

I enjoyed the movie but it had some rather glaring errors.

Why is this dumb? She didn't know about doomsday.
A woman find the one weapon that can kill her loved one, why would she want to keep it around him?

Nitpicky shit

>A scene of batman stealing in which he fails. This is immediately followed by a scene of him having succeeding. Why did we need the first scene?

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.
Are you talking about the scene that Bats needed to wait 7 or so minutes before the copy was made so he needed to fuck off and comeback later?

>Lex's character being so wrong. Justified by a laughable throwaway line. Not to mention his nonsense motives.

It's okay when marvel changes characters.

Snyder doesn't know how to effectively tell a story that the audience feels emotionally invested in. He focuses on the wrong details and confuses the audience over their importance. He doesn't spend enough time on characterization and ends up relying too much on symbolism to portray character arcs.

Snyder has skipped the fundamentals in terms of creating a good story and instead focuses on secondary elements like symbolism and allusions. That's why this is a bad movie.
>>
>>67666612
>it just had a big Omega symbol. To a nonDCfan, it means nothing
That's just ignorance then, you can't say the gauntlet means nothing because a nonMarvelfan doesn't know what it is.

Also, the demons were flying all over the place, and clearly were ranked above the Superman soldiers as they would just fly in and abduct them, so yeah, Darkseid is the big boss there.

>If they wanted to do that, they should have included this scene
It's confirmed for the directors cut. Does that not mean it's included? Genuine question, if you don't think director's cut content counts, then fair enough.

>Him smiling was enough of a grand reveal
Eh, I just felt it was such a waste to just have him just out there in Guardians. Because I was thinking a reveal as in you see his entire body, no shady business, no end credit teasers, he's there doing shit. And for me, being in Guardians felt like a waste.

>Will DC fuck up Thanos's big reveal? I don't know. The future is not mine to see.
DC will be doing the Thanos reveal?

Yes, of course I know that's a typo, I know what you mean. It all depends on Justice League now. What would be best is if they don't reveal him until the end of Part 1. If they make him the villain of Part 1, then they fucked up.

*tips fedora while stepping out of the shadows*

The pitiful peons at Marvel have underestimated the power of DC one time too many. The "Marvel Cinematic Universe". Huh. A shoddily shot, messily put together series of soulless and artless wastes of celluloid designed to appeal to the base intellects of moronic manchildren still dreaming of becoming powerful as they waste their lives away masturbating to images of Black Widow.

Only a fool and a weakling of mind could gain satisfaction from watching poorly animated CGI trade weightless and impactless punches while trading quips a severely mentally retarded Thai ladyboy would find beneath him/her.

DC understand cinéma. They understand kino. DC know how to build shade and light in a performance, how to engage the minds of true enlightened souls. DC have redefined not just superhero films, but the entire film industry itself.

Mentally challenged Marvel fanboys can only begin to grasp the tectonic shift in filmmaking that has been unleashed. Critics and reviewers fail to recognize a movie far ahead of its time once again, crying on their blogs about lack of snark and quipping - failing to recognize a literal masterpiece as it unfolds before them.

The public have responded. The entire filmmaking industry has been shaken to its core. DC have changed the game utterly - a new landscape is carved, a beauty is born, a God walks among men.

It's more than one problem. For one, he doesn't seem to have a good grasp of human emotions. For another, he doesn't know where to focus the viewer's attention. His story structure overall is weak. >I'd say the worst affront is why Batman went full retard and attempted to kill Superman over the inadvertent damage to his building from Superman's fight with Zod.
He hates Superman for similar reasons to Luthor: power. He's been fighting in the criminal world for 20 years, has been ground down by life, he even says his own vigilantism is pointless (pull up a weed and another grows in its place). The destruction in Metropolis was a cataclysm that he can't accept. This was symbolised early on by him saving that child from a cross-shaped piece of masonry. Bruce rejects a christ-like saviour because of how nihilistic he's become. But he's also got good reasons because Superman is potentially very dangerous, and even if his intentions are pure has caused a lot of damage.

I think Bruce's speech about Wayne's being hunters is also significant, plus the spear and the whale-shaped hole Superman leaves when thrown through a wall. The imagery of Captain Ahab is used to show Bruce's obsession with his quarry. The whole film uses popular literature and film imagery to illustrate its point.

I think it's a comment on the place of Batman and Superman as pop-culture icons. Batman is more popular in the real world, and in the film we see that he's the hero who fits in our world, he's gritty, damaged, and has lost his ideals (like not killing). Superman is a hero out of time, people have only cynicism for a hero with pure intentions who wants people to aspire to a moral ideal. Clark's boss importantly says "this isn't 1938 anymore". Superman is even overcome with it himself and says "There was never a Superman". I think this conflict is set up very well, and it's more about a class of morality vs cynicism than the physical fight itself.

superman's intervention the plots demands it. i don't think the movie shies away from this at all
>-Lex's character being so wrong. Justified by a laughable throwaway line. Not to mention his nonsense motives.
he is motivated by his lack of power in relation to superman just like batman. he explains everything you need to know about him in the tower scene. i'd say there's a lot of doubles, callbacks, rhymes mirrored events and characters. the movie in a sense mirrors itself as well

>>That's just ignorance then, you can't say the gauntlet means nothing because a nonMarvelfan doesn't know what it is.

I can grant you that.

But thats also why Marvel is taking its time to slowly build up to the gauntlet. I can imagine they would need to do a Dr. Strange movie, to explain the Magic gem. Even the previous movies slowly introduce the idea of the gems and what they can do. The Tesseract was one. So was the Ether. That purple one in GotG. And the mind gem in Vision's head.

The gems are slowly introduced, and, it will lead up to Thanos collecting ALL of them. Thats SHOWING. Thats building a narrative. Even an ignorant moviegoer can learn about the gems by watching all the Marvel movies that feature them.

>>Also, the demons were flying all over the place, and clearly were ranked above the Superman soldiers as they would just fly in and abduct them, so yeah, Darkseid is the big boss there.

And the average moviegoer will "what the fuck are demons doing there". They would not know about parademons. Nor care,

>>Because I was thinking a reveal as in you see his entire body

Sometimes a face is enough. But, lets agree to disagree on this one. I say face, you say body.

>>If they make him the villain of Part 1

I did mean to say Darkseid, but it does go to show how more I care about Thanos than Darkseid. The only other big bad I can imagine being interested in, atm, is Apocalypse.

I really think they might do that. Seeing how DC tends to rush things, I can foreseee them doing something like that. Hopefully, the wise up a bit from the weaknesses of the Green Lantern and BvS. But, well: time can only tell.

Actually, I've never read the comics, but I thought the demons fit in fine with all the religious imagery in the movie. That seems to be a theme, not just using the comic characters but combining them with lots of archetypes from popular fiction and culture.
>>
>>67651346

You have no right to criticise this movie when you didn't even watch it.

>>67668172
I know what you are going for. It also does tie in with the painting in Luthor's house of the demons.

It is clear Christian imagery, of Superman as a God/Christ figure, and the demons as being representative of Apokolips, and also what Superman could become.

But again, it just feels hamfisted and vague.
>>
>>67668117
that sounds exactly like good old Lex Luthor. Fuck Snyder
>>
>>67668072
not saying anything
snyder himself has said that he wanted it to feel like a comic book and i see what he means with how information was relayed to viewer visually and through dialogue
i'm not defending it but i do see it

i'm absolutely serious about the doomsday scene being literal abstract. lex comits to his faustian/promethean goals and does a blood ritual where he offers his own blood as well as a flesh offering that creates doomsday something that is both a physical monster that has to be beaten and the incarnation of everyone's fear and doubt in the movie. the way doomsday functions is also a literal exponentially destructive force, a perversion of the power struggle batman superman and lex were involved with. most if not every single action of doomsday is an amalgamation of monster tropes and the movie does not shy away from turning the spear into a plot device
the water scene is mirrored from the earlier bathtub scene and we see clark's affirmation of love for the world through his love for lois as he commits to a hero that slays the dragon trope while sacrificing himself for others. everything in that scene is visual literary abstraction
>>
>>67668255
To me its a mismanagement.

On paper and on text, its sound. But visually, audiences would forget that earlier sequence when Kal and Lois were in the bathtub. With all the action going, and would the hype with Doomsday's powers, audiences would be wonder - "why are they cutting to Lois throwing the spear in the water, then getting it back?" I think thats one problem of BvS - a lot of great imagery and symbolism that works well on paper, but not on screen
>>
>>67668225
I dunno, I thought it pretty straightforward, since the movie is all about power the scene shows very obviously how Superman power could be abused, further showing why Batman and Lex hate him.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it partly showed why Batman is totally fine with killing. With that imagery of the world ending in his head, his own moral code probably seems less important, especially to an older, jaded, vigilante.

I'm not saying it's clever, because it's not exactly subtle, but I found it interesting and applicable to me as a non-fan.
>>
>>67668311
i saw it as an affirmation of what superman ultimately is
