DUDE CAPITALISM IS BAD LMAOOOO

I haven't seen it.
>>
>>67645499
Film of the year imo followed by mad max; fury road and the force awakens
>>
>>67645499
Carell got robbed.
>>
Portrayal of how the short happened was conveyed well

Portrayal of the actual crisis was overly simplistic and failed to place blame on government or the rating agencies. This is of course by design, as it is pro regulation media. It also failed to place blame on anyone lower than middle class house flippers, who largely weren't the worst of the loans, despite the movie talking about those bad loans

The comic book supervillain bankers should be a clear indicator that we've departed reality.

Overall I liked it, especially bale's performance, who deserved the Oscar for that
>>
>>67645545
Well you should. It was excellent, and if you still don't quite get the financial meltdown, it will help you understand. It will also make you rip-shit-mad if you bought into the idea that greedy Wall Street traders and inept federal regulators weren't at fault for the crisis.
>>
>>67645703
>or the rating agencies
Did you watch the fucking film
>>
>>67645703
What? They portray the ratings agencies as whores for the major firms, and use that scene in Vegas to show the SEC literally in bed with the banks.
>>
>>67645703
dude free market lmao
>>
>>67645499
JACKED TO THE TITS.
I laughed at times.
However, it is blatantly apologetic and not at all showing the suffering the banking crisis has cost. Instead the heroes are people who benefited form it.
>>
>>67645499
reddit as fuck
>>
>>67645715
Does anyone doubt that though? I thought it was proven and admitted by them.

As far as punishing them though...
>>
>>67645580

He wasnt even nominated wtf????
>>
>>67645746
>it was just incompetence akin to a sales incentive
Gross misrepresentation of the issue
>>67645758
>whore for the major firms
Ignores any and all incentives from the government, most principally that they're a government monopoly with no accountability
>SEC
Government portrayed as the victim, taken advantage of by wallstreet. Ignores enforcement of federal statutes regarding loan discrimination and various other clinton implementations
>>67645759
>dude corruption lmao

Liberal propaganda. Paul Krugman's wet dream.

Is this a prequel to Bane?
>>
>>67645963
>Gross misrepresentation of the issue

>Literally shows the agencies getting cucked by the firms with a 5 minute monologue about them

If anything it was too on the nose family
>>
Kinda zoned out half way through.
Got the basic gist of the second half.
>>
>>67646016
>no mention of the structure of the monopolies or government influence with them
because collusion isn't a common property of government granted monopolies or anything

>5 minute monologue
>length implies accuracy
>gross simplicity isn't counterproductive to understanding an issue

>between the ratings firms famous for engaging in monopolistic competition

I'm sorry the Cato institute has brainwashed you anon. They were giving incorrect ratings because they feared losing business to their competitors, not because they were collaborating.
>>
Actually felt smarter watching this shit
>>
>>67646641

Exactly. they point this out in the movie
>>
It all fell apart at the end when carrell said

>but le politicians will just blame immigrants and poor people ;)

as though those two issues are completely in a vaccum when talking about the economy

>>
>>67646807

Holy fuck that was a boring movie
>>
>>67646757
Pretty sure he just meant it as a juxtaposition. The people responsible for this crisis are richer than god and did incalculable damage to the global economy; they get off scot-free while politicians campaign on kicking out immigrants to protect the economy.
>>
>>67646760
Bailouts had nothing to do with culpability

This.
It really pissed me off. It oversimplified some parts, but it did explain it well for plebs and the acting was at a level mug higher than anticipated.
>>
>>67645499
I'm still pro-capitalism pro-wall street after seeing this movie, and i fucking loved this movie. I saw it more as A) people were fucking stupid and greedy and B) people became rich off of it.
>>
>>67646760
Those bailouts were planned under Bush.
>>
Good movie. Loved Carrell in it. Bale was good too, but I honestly don't remember him being in the movie as much as everyone else.

Why didn't they just print more money? Shitty plot holes 3/10 movie

This is 4chan

Poor and immigrants are always at fault and no sympathy should be felt.

Now go build wall, Paco
>>
>But there's only so many HERMS to go around
What did incredibly overrated flavor of the month actress Margot Robbie mean by this?
>>
Amazing how they managed to turn a (though genuinely interesting and great) fairly dry and wordy book into such a funny comedy. If nothing else managing to turn that source content into a film which works so well from both an explanation and a comedy standpoint is a masterwork of script writing. Incredibly impressed tßh.
>>
>>67645499

> Movie about the financial crisis
> Hedge fund managers are the heros
> Moment of crisis for our heros is when wallstreet and the government attempts to delay/stop the collapse of the banks that devastated the global economy
>>

There were no heroes.

best movie of 2015 imho

>>

Capeshit has done damage to /tv/.
Not every movie has to have heroes
>>
liked it more than spotlight
>>
Terrible editing, I had to drop it.
>>
Did anyone watch the ending? it's gunna happen again, and soon. look up bespoke tranche opportunities
>>
>>67647241

None if them were portrayed as heroes. They were all going after an opportunity.

Being the protagonist doesn't make you the good guy.
>>
>>67646757
Well in this case, they were. Most of the defaults came from wanna be slumlords who took out a bunch of ARM loans and then rented the properties out to immigrants and poor people, who then got put out on the street when those landlords wcouldn't pay the loans back with the money they were making in rent. The big Federal housing companies, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, which had given out many loans to many poor people, only started takin on losses after they were ordered to begin buying up junk private loans in an attempt to help failing private lenders stave off bankruptcy.
>>
>>67647003
Well then you missed part

C) Which is that those greedy fucks crashed the entire global economy, and got away with it scott free.
>>
>>67647003
>people were fucking stupid and greedy

Why do you feel that this mitigates the whole thing

Like "Oh, it's just stupidity and greed, it's fine like"

That's not a good or acceptable thing, especially when most of the people who were stupid and greedy are still in the same positions of power.
