I dunno. Maybe a subtle reference to bad reviews? Like the red capes are supposed to symbolize all the red flags in the trailers warning us this movie was going to be shit? Or maybe he was eluding to all the cape wearing fedora lords that are the DC defense force that are going to rally against all the critics and comicbook fans that thought this movie was shit.
