Movies people under 25 wouldn't understand.

He'll be an ad exec with HIV.
>>
>>67635429
Probably bloody not
>>
>>67635566
Then seriously, what's the point? If they're not sticking to the books, why bother?
>>
>>67635403
Jesus Christ, is anything sacred? How many years before Hollywood says fuck it and makes Citizen Kane 2?
>>
>>67635588

>muh books

Back to /got/ you go, Porno was dogshit as are all of Welsh's books
>>
>>67635609
But there is a book that follows on from Trainspotting. That doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be adapted, but it's not like they're just making up new shit to make another Trainspotting.
>>
I hope this is irony to be found in this thread and not stupidity. Porno is a great book and a worthy follow up. The only potential negatives are the fact that it's been 20 years instead of 10 and Boyle seems to have lost some of his magic. But I have faith.
>>
>>67635609

I can't wait for CK2: Roseblood.
>>
>>67635629
Nah, Welsh is great.
>>
>>67635665
I guess it depends on whether or not they're actually adapting Porno. The fact they're saying Trainspotting 2 either means they're going in a completely different direction, or it's for marketing reasons, since I doubt many people would go to a movie called Porno.

Trains have come a long way since the first one m8
>>
>>67635629
Glue was p good desu
>>
>>67635724
Definitely marketing reasons. Fewer people would go watch a movie called Porno, hell it might even be enough to not show it in some cinemas, and more importantly you want to make sure everyone understands that it's connected with Trainspotting, which the people in charge are not confident in the general populace doing.
>>
>young adult drug addicts are now middle aged drug addicts
Perfect portrayal of Scotland desu.
>>
>>67635763

I hate the snp and lefties, but still think Welsh is pretty great as a writer. He can be abit annoying though.

Had a copy of Skagboys lying around for months. Should I finally read it?
>>
>>67635763
Maybe I'm missing some key Scottish political perspective but the man can turn a phrase and knows a thing or two about what's going on in people's heads.
>>
Can anyone spoil what happens in Porn / any other spin offs? Honestly I kind of thought it was implied that all the characters would be dead pretty soon based on their lifestyles.
>>
>>67635852
Has it been confirmed the TS2 script is based off Porno? At any rate, what marketing potential did the original Trainspotting have anyway? I'd be disappointed if they didn't just call it Porno - at least in Scotland/UK.
>>
>>67635925
I was hesitant of the idea of a prequel to Trainspotting so far after the fact, but I'll be damned if it wasn't amazing.
>>
>>67635629
It is based on porno, and kill yourself senpai
>>
>>67635403
The point is to make money.
>>
>>67635852
>few people would watch a movie about Scottish drug addicts
>>

>Can anyone spoil what happens in Porn

>Sickboy wants to make a porno
>He makes a porno
>Begbie gets out of jail
>Rent Boy comes back from Amsterdam
>Begbie is gonna fuck Rents up
>Is about to fuck him up but gets hit by a bus

it's alright. Trainspotting was better.
>>
desu dont fucking care what the movie about as long we'll have begbie in it
but not sure i want them running around in amsterdam, such a cliche place for these kinda movies
>>
>>67636051
I remember Begbie being especially mental.
>>
>>67635609
Hollywood has been getting really paranoid about every movie license for some reason.
That's why there are so many sequels and reboots happening.
>>
>>67636112

The Begbie chapters really are the best part of the book. The rest of it is pretty unmemorable.
>>
IT'S OVER BEGBIE, I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND

if billy boyd plays any part in this ,,,,,,,,fucking dropped.

Even with the written sequel, Trainspotting as a movie really says everything it needs to say perfectly. Do we need to see these junkies again?
>>
>>67636051
>>67636136
I think you're doing it a disservice. Although I am admittedly struggling to remember plot points the book is about character exploration more than anything else. Sick Boy's final form is intriguing, you forgot all about everyone's favorite Catboy, and hanging out in Renton's mind is always interesting.
>>
>>67636461
I remember the 'sick girl' character and the other younger student guy. Was about 12 years ago read that, bit hazy.
>>
is it accurate to say trainspotting is a documentary?
>>
>trainspotting sequel
>instead of smooth house and trance soundtrack it's aids-skrillex and ibiza-hipster-shit
>>
Danny Boyle has been saying for over a decade that he needed to wait until the actors were older to make a trainspotting sequel.
>>
>>67635925

Get it done lad. I might have even preferred it to porno. I suspect he wrote a lot of it years ago, it's very close in tone to trainspotting but darker.

>>
>>67636171

Haha that's so dead on. He just appears in porno and everyone single character loves him even though he's a bit of a crap character. I don't want the film to even reference him.
>>
>>67636122
The main reason for the excessive reboots is piracy. Piracy has made it next to impossible to make money back on anything that doesn't already have a recognisable name behind it, and Hollywood simply aren't willing to risk losing tens of millions of dollars. Cinema in the west has become like fast food. People go to the cinema to see the stuff they recognise and the stuff they already know they like; hence the reboots, all of the capeshit etc.
>>
>>67637496
No it's laziness and number crunching taking a priority over creativity, not piracy. How the fuck could you think it's piracy?
>>
>>67637375
Yeah Skagboys definitely resonated more with me than Porno. It's almost on par with Trainspotting which I was never expecting.
