Tom Sizemore, Forest Whitaker, and Stellan Skarsgård take on the role of detectives in a fictional town above the arctic circle in Alaska, USA. The year is 1994, and the three all used to be friends, and are brought together out of necessity, rather than any wish to see each other. An unspecific act, possibly criminal, haunts their past. Sizemore and Whitaker served in the military during the cold war, and were stationed at a military base in Sweden, where they met Skarsgård's character. A fourth member of this conspiratorial group has died, and the circumstances are suspicious.
Sizemore is a private investigator out of NYC, and Whitaker works for the Federal Government, having taken time off of work to pursue this matter. Skarsgård works at a hospital back home, but has put everything aside for this. Each of the three has not just some personal gain at stake, but whatever secret they're all hiding is quite serious, and could either land them in prison, or otherwise ruin their lives.
The trio come to believe that their friend has been murdered within the first episode, after illegally entering the crime scene, and finding details that the investigators overlooked. Fearing that it may be related to their as-of-yet unspecified activities, the three begin a clandestine investigation to find the killer, and stop him. All the while, the threat of their secrets getting out leads to tensions among them.

It's literally an abandoned fort built in the 1800's with a shit tone of underground tunnels all completely covered in graffiti. There's even a room completely covered in satanic art that people used to hold occult rituals in.

Fairly typical format with the older detective overseeing the progress of a younger partner. Turner I'd very much enjoy seeing turn into a bastard as the series progressed.
Eckhart is a little older now so I think I'd like to see him in a villainous role. But I think he'd also be a red herring and the real threat of the series would show itself later on.
