Is there a tv-series about Napoleon Bonaparte in the style of shows like "Rome" or "The Borgias"?
Or about the french revolution in general?
>>
well, that is disappointing

Err not that I know of, however, War and Peace featured Napoleon a few times. It's a good mini series.
>>
answer is no unfortunately OP
>>
>>67629486
No, because there is no God.

The closest we have is the 4 part drama.

Theres Sharpes Rifles and Hornblower, but they are from the British side, and are basically the two main characters have no flaws and are always right. Still watchable.
>>
>>67629486
"Hey Jay what did you think of... The asshole that stabbed ,e"
>>
>>67630951
>the two main characters have no flaws and are always righ
Fuck off, Sharpe is a commsuately flawed character, that's his whole thing. He rarely gets the girl, and they usually dump him for a richer man. He gets fucked over time and again by people who are smarter than him. He deals with constant frustrations and difficulties in a human way, and finishes the story basically right back where he started.
>>
I really don't get how there isn't a french revolution/ napoleonic war series.
It's literally the best material for an epic show with fantastic characters:
Robespierre and the Jakobins
Tallyrand
Fucking Napoleon Bonaparte and family and girls
Russeau
Alexander I
the Habsburgs
>>
>>67629486
yep.. but its a sequel.

It's funny, in literature Napoleon has several tens if not hundreds of books published about him every year. He's literally top 3 in publishing with Jesus and Caesar. But in movies or tv? Next to nothing.

The closest thing I know of is the BBC Heroes & Villains series. It has an episode about Napoleon
>>
>>67631478
Oh, I thought you ment no material is being filmed because people are still angry at france for buttfucking europe in the napoleonic war.
Like how hollywood doesn't do HP Lovecraft movies, because he was an utter racist and antisemite

The 1927 Napoleon film made all other works about him in cinema instantly and forever irrelevant. It's miniseries length anyway. Watch that.

yeah realized that, but nah waterloo was a big budget film that completely flopped
reason kubrick never made a napoleon film too
>>
>>67631173
And yet people are praising GoT for how realistic it is. Only proves that the society consists only of imbeciles not aware of history. There is so much source material that not only would make an entertaining show but would also provide some insight into how life was hundreds of years ago.
>>
>>67629486

There's little renaissance /tv/ in general as that era is expensive as fuck to portray properly. It doesn't help that not many people are interested in the period either because most find line infantry warfare boring.

Well I do think part of the reason there isn't much in the way of Napoleon in English language film is because of the Brits constantly pushing the idea that he was "the bad guy".

There plenty of stuff made by the French, but not many if any massive epics.

I haven't seen Hornblower so I can't make a call on that but Sharpe has tonnes of flaws. He's an asshole, he's vindictive and petty and a mercenary. The only reason he wins at the end of the day is because fighting is what he's good at.

The french revolution broke the social barriers and made it possible that Napoleon, a lowly corsican boy could become emperor of france.
He didn't forget that when he wrote the napoleonic code.

Yet brittain still has the worst two class sosciety in europe. They still have the monarchy ffs

Yes I know, I've read a very good bio on him once. At the end in Charenton he was fucking a laundry girl young enough to be his granddaughter (the loose inspiration for Kate Winslet's character in Quills). But all he wanted was his freedom, and that was his ultimate torture. He was utterly at the mercy of authority, the one thing he truly detested.

With both blocs too afraid of a direct confrontation, we'll end up funneling meat in to the grinder in some third world shithole.

We just need a bigger conflict, a draft, and then cinemá will finally be back were it belongs; in the hands of patricians and intellectuals.

The only problem is that capeshit fans consist of mostly overweight, neckbearded virgins, so getting them in to the army would be a nightmare.

>The scene is a pre-French Revolution Bastille, where various political prisoners are being held: a woman who was raped and impregnated by the king, a police chief who was accused of selling bad pork, and the Marquis, who was unjustly accused of working for the overthrow of the king. The Marquis is only interested in writing his deviant stories, while his penis yearns for a little action (they argue about this frequently), the prime candidate being the jailer who likes to be buggered. The corrupt priest arranges to have the pregnant woman raped by the Marquis so they can claim the king had nothing to do with it. The priest also steals the Marquis' manuscripts and publishes them for his own profit. Things come to a head as the people rise up against the tyranny.

Jews love Napoleon. He wanted to reestablish an Israelite state and abolished the discriminatory Pale of Settlement in Poland

It's the Eternal Anglo's and Vatican's propaganda against him that keeps a major movie/mini-series from being made

Because of this propaganda people don't realize that Napoleon was a revolutionary and national liberation leader, fighting for the downtrodden of Europe at the time (Poles, Jews, Ukrainians, women, etc.) and retards actually equate him to Hitler or Stalin.
