>"Hans Zimmer appeared this morning on the BBC current affairs & arts programme Hard Talk & while chatting to the presenter about his views on whether or not the current state of the the Hollywood machine with the superhero genre is running out of steam, he officially announced he is retiring from the scoring superhero movies. Talking quite candidly, he revealed he found Batman v Superman very difficult to score, citing he was relieved that he his collaborator JUNKIE XL on board."

Zimmer makes the same soundtrack for every movie. On this day my ears are happy.

No wonder the soundtrack sucked gigantic dicks.

Why do you think he asked to bring in Junkie XL?
I don't blame him wanting to do something else.

Fuck, I meant to write Nolan Batman films, MoS was better than those.
Lol people jumping off the sinking ship already
I'm sure he'll have a job working on dunkirk anyways
He did two stinkers in a fucking row.
TASM2 and now BVS. If they were good he probably would have scored Justice League.
http://comicsalliance.com/jesse-eisenberg-still-doesnt-know-if-lex-luthor-will-return-for-justice-league/
Jesse Eisenberg Still Doesn’t Know If Lex Luthor Will Return For ‘Justice League’
>Jesse Eisenberg, the actor who brought Lex Luthor to life with mixed reactions across the internet, says he has no idea if Lex will return for the Justice League movies, odd considering they start filming in just two weeks. Even worse, he indicates that even director Zack Snyder isn’t really sure what’s going on with Lex Luthor.
>“I don’t know if they are so settled on where my character goes,” Eisenberg told Business Insider when asked if he’ll be returning for Justice League. Eisenberg did add that he hopes to “have another opportunity to work with these wonderful people” and that he would be “thrilled” to return if he was asked.

This is the cost for being capekino.
People abandon you. They become scared of change. They become scared of a genre that can transcend capeshit.
So they leave you. They try to tear you down. They try to call you a "hack" and a "fraud".
But you don't listen to them. Because you know what's best for them. You take it all in stride, because you're the hero capekino needs.
They'll understand in the end. They'll apologize. They'll ask for forgiveness.
And you'll be there, because it's your duty. You'll save them, enlighten them. This..is all part of the plan. This..is capekino.

I still remember the main theme from "The Avengers" and "Captain America: The First Avenger", so Alan Silvestri was alright. Same for "Iron Man" and "The Winter Soldier". So basically everything you posted about memorability comes down to "muh opinions".
>>67626116
>Look up luthor theme
>first 30 seconds is supes' theme in reverse set differently.
Nice touch.
I don't really think much of Zimmerman, and I don't think that you necessarily need "iconic" music for it to be good in a movie. But that's certainly a good level of depth to include.

Most of Zimmer's stuff in the last 10 years has felt pretty contrived and forced. He's repeating lot of old ideas and using his in-house composers to do the heavy lifting.
Occasionally he seems to find inspiration and put out something good, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight had genuinely good scores, The Dark Knight Rises was kind of shitty though. Inception was great, probably his best score since Gladiator.
Interestingly he works a lot, he does like 5 movies a year, which is a lot for a composer, even acknowledging that he farms out lot of the work to his in-house composers.
Interestellar was somewhat interesting as well. His work on the Pirates movies was largely unforgettable (and the famous main theme everyone talks about, Klaus Badelt composed that, not Zimmer).
>>67625790

>>67626824
The Pirates theme is literally the same thing as the Gladiator theme, just faster.
He's a meme composer like John Williams. Producers just get the biggest name they can find to score their movie.
I think the state of contemporary scores is in terrible shape. They're utterly cliche and far too heavily percussion-based.
Zimmer in particular is obsessed with loud, dissonant chords. The last 10 years of his composing has basically been a percussion-beat with crescendoing dissonant chords over and over again.
>>67626488

It's a shame Snyder was the director. They had a great composer and picked out a really solid cast, and then they fucked it all up with badly paced, hackneyed storytelling and a plot that had almost no structure or sense.

The only memorable soundtracks in movies and TV that surface to my mind are
Troy,
Equilibrium,
Star Wars,
Star Trek,
Starship Troopers,
Battlestar Galactica,
Inside Man,
Flash Gordon,
Predator movies,
Con Air,
Megas XLR,
some of the old Transformers themes,
Courage The Cowardly Dog.
Though if i think about the best decade for movie soundtracks, it's the 80s followed by a good part of the 90s, since there was a lot of creative utilization of orchestral music and hybrids utilizing it.
