Holy livings fuck. That nuke scene in Batman V Superman was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. How is no one talking about this. Like 3 seconds into Doomsday existing, the military decides to fire a nuke at him. It blows up in the atmosphere above and nothing happens to the city. No EMP at all. Even the cartoon knew this happens. In the dark knight returns, which this scene is based on, the nuke takes out the power grid.
>>
Didn't Doomsday already succ all the energy out of Metropolis
>>
>>67610739
Wouldnt the explosion knock Doomsday deeper into space, instead of making him fall back to earht???
>>
>>67610739
They cut a lot from that fight

>Like 3 seconds into Doomsday existing, the military decides to fire a nuke at him
its america
>>
>>67610739

it was in the upper atmosphere, the one in DKR detonated on the ground.
>>
Blowing up a nuke in the atmosphere is the dumbest shit you can do. There's a reason why it's banned.
>>
Yeah that was one of my main issues with the movie actually.

The military trying and failing to nuke something is an overused trope/cliche at this point.
>>
>>67610843

Can I get a bit more explanation on that? And not all nukes cause radioactive fallout do they?

>not all nukes carry radioactive fallot do they?
>>
>>67610882
Yes they do. That's literally the only reason everyone is so cautious about using nukes.
>>
>>67610882
It wipes out electronics on the surface.

Amazingly, this was not made up by Kojima for MGS2.
>>
How exactly do they lock on to Superman and Doomsday with the nuke?

Its like shooting a bullet with a bullet
>>
>>67610882
Nukes have an EMP burst when they go off that fries electronics. On the ground it mostly radiates upwards, away from earth, but in the atmosphere it had no barrier to stop it from cooking everything below it.

It was detonated in the thermosphere/ exosphere beyond any impact to planetary equipment
>>
>>67611034

if Supes had not moved doomsday and himself into its path I'm sure they would have remote detonated it, you could even make a case that the guys on the ground counted on Superman to make a sacrifice of himself to make sure it went off.
>>
>>67611049
>>67610981

But the nuclear yield can be changed in the case of tactical nukes to maximum explosive power while diminishing radiation I thought. Though I guess from Superman's emaciated state it was pretty rad focused.
>>
>>67611207
Doesn't matter since the EMP will still be there. There are nukes that can make entire countries powerless thanks to the EMP created in high altitude detonations. And it would talk years, even decades to build up an electric grid again. Blowing up a nuke in space is very different from blowing it up on the ground.
>>
Why do the cartoon movies have more depth to them than the live-action films?

I expected them to be shit but I watched a bunch and they're great. They're everything superhero movies should be. Plus they use real actors now instead of wacky cartoon voice actors, the only letdown is some of the animation.

or actuality gave Dark Knight Returns, a thirty year old Frank Miller comic that's far far far better constructed than this trash

Less cooks in the kitchen. Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett and crew have less suits looking over their shoulder at every little thing they do as long as they stay on time and on budget.

Why even use the nuke since Superman was clearly going to throw him into space?
>>
>>67611840

In the event Superman failed, POTUS command decision is final, even the black general was like SUPERMAN'S ON THE CASE SIR but nope, they were taking no chances
>>
>>67611840
The US government is reactionary cucks also they still have issues with supes being beyond control. Two birds with one stone
>>
Why didn't Superman just grab his foot, start spinning and throw him out into space ? The flying punch combo was dumb. Whats even dumber is that the entire fight Supes didn't use the one thing he had over DD, his intelligence,
>>
>>67610902
That scene was wonderful.
>>
>>67610739

Because in a film filled with dumb, nonsensical shit, this thing just gets burrowed in all the other stupidity.

Perfect.

Doomsday is a shitty villain and it's better that they get rid of him early.

That's when you know you removed all threat from a character

You know it's possible to harden against EMP, right

And that several states have their grids hardened against EMP

If this was an Avengers movie that would have happened.
