>>67605840
Cinegrids are a bonus
>>67605721
Saw moon's pool coz i saw you and another anon discuss it yesterday, it was very nice. Incredibly nice photo and sound even if i wasn't fond of the speaking with water in the mouth effect.
>>67606329
yay, it's a shame it's so little known, honestly.
The water in mouth effect made me really uncomfortable the first time I watched it but I actually think it's there to do exactly that, so I see it as totally necessary. And the fact that it's so beautiful sometimes makes me forget its flaws.
It almost fully utilitzes the medium of cinema (no writing so i guess it doesn't). But the sound design is neat and so is the cinematography, plus it's underwater which usually comes off lame-ish; but this film does it so great that it also was filmed underwater in its entirety.
I wish I could find more information in it tho
>>67605721
>which ones would you say are the best films of the 50s and 40s
ive a bit of bias towards noir since its my favourite genre or film style and i think the 40's noirs capture the era pretty well
>>67603576
someone gimme recs on anything that would fall into any one of either essential cyberpunk, postmodern, or existential crisis-core.
yes, i know im a pleb who is stuck at entry-level and barely skirting mid-level, but im pretty well saturated in those areas. please take that into consideration as well and make assumptions accordingly.
>>67606810
un homme qui dort, millenium actress, perfect blue, nostalghia, blind chance, jeane dielman, cries and whispers, wild strawberries
as entry level as it gets
>>67602240

another director who is very comfy is weerasethakul so i rec him also
>>67606753
I'm not really well versed in noir outside a few from the 60s so a few of your favorites would be neat!
>>67608324
Double Indemnity
Laura
The Maltese Falcon
The Big Sleep
The Big Combo
Touch of Evil
Out of the Past
Night of the Hunter (up for debate as to wether its noir)
Notorious ( once again debatable but great nonetheless)
Dead Reckoning
Key Largo
The Killers
Murder,My Sweet
Postman always rings twice
Kiss Me Deadly
The Big Heat
The Third Man
M
DOA
kung fu panda 3 was good
>>67609056

>>67609741
its really great, how come the love for ratatouille?
here it is
You're all patrish
>>67610128
The flashback scene with Ego is one of my favorites. Just a fun, enjoyable film. Would've added The Fly is I had one more spot.
Amazing job with the chart.
>>67610696
have you seen the read death?
My favourite documentaries. (Though I'd add Man on Wire if I could)
>>67610746
it is a comfy film, i haven't watched a disney film for a while and the last one i watched (big hero) was quite disappointing
np about the chart, you seen a lot of cronenberg?
>>67610919
watch tokyo olympiad (pic related), you got a general chart?
>>67610996
I was actually going to watch it, but the runtime is scaring me off.
Yeah, I have a general, even if it is a 4x4 rather than a 3x3.
4x4 cuz thread is boring
>>67611128
>4x4
>Posts 5x4
>>67611128
5x4*
>>67611057
well the one i've got is split into two parts so its not as bad, still highly suggest it
i rec
rohmer
malle
cassavetes
Could we get a themed one of these going? I know we have animation now and again, but something else would be nice. Horror, documentaries, silents, coming-of-age, whatever. Could be fun.
>>67610996
Seen Fly, Videodrone, Naked Lunch, and History of Violence. Should get around to Scanners at some point.
>>67611242
Might try a themed tomorrow, some change could be nice. What themes would you suggest ?
>>67611472
Slav movies.
>>67611299
scanners follows the same style as the first three, eastern promises and the newer films follow similar styles to history of violence, suggest watching all of them
>>67611242
it is a good idea but i hate making new charts for myself, i might make a horror one
>>67611472
horror
romance
your country
your top 9 directors
>>67611242
Here's silent films for me.
Why not
>>67611627
And comedies.
>>67611702
And animated
>>67611472
>>67611594
>your country

>>67611627
What's bottom-left?
>>67611627
>>67611702
>>67611739

>>67611775
i had always wanted to make one but my country has made about 3 films lol
>>67611872
Where are you from?
>>67612008
Wales
>>67607945
>>67608308
thanks bros
good to see themes actually being done, this motivates me.id really like to see some "fuck you i liked it" 3x3s, just because it would be a lot more interesting for us, and the people who are just lurking and a bit apprehensive.
also good to see people discussing my man cronenberg. definitely save maps to the stars for last.
>>67602833
>Ghost Dog
Fucking what? That movie is awful.
>>67612083
I've only seen eXistenZ ( loved it ), but i've bought maps to the stars, can i watch it now or should i watch more of him first ?
>>67611872
Maybe we can try a specific country who did alot of movies ( like france, china, ... ) or some others ideas.
Fucking nice, I've always wanted to make a Mexican 3x3
>>67612074
Oh. I can honestly not name a single Welsh movie.
>>67611739
What's mid-left?
>>67612106
What do you dislike about it ?
>>67612310
Waking Life.
Here's my Directors mosaic.
>>67612106
this isn't helping the threads senpai
>>67612083
for 'fuck you i liked it' , were you thinking of films you recently watched or films that are generally considered bad/pleb? its an interesting idea
>>67612194
thats what i was thinking, i will think of some films from a few countries and make some for the next thread
i'll probably make a horror one first because i don't know alot of horror films
>>67612272
its really hard, i had a lecture on welsh cinema last week and its pretty embarrassing
kevin allen and marc evans are the only two people around
>>67612310
waking life
>>67608042
>>67608042
If you're doing Akerman you can't miss The Meetings of Anna. It's terrific.
>>67612194
you can watch it but it might be a little bit trickier to fully appreciate until you get a few more under your belt. existenz is a very solid entry point though.
>>67612395
i was thinking an either/or or some combination of
>films that were badly reviewed
>films that may not have been badly reviewed, but are unpopular to like around certain parts (specifically here)
>films that even most "cinephiles" either dislike or outright hate
basically the types of things that would get 2/7s in these threads and really make you question the other persons taste and sanity.
>>67612395
Is there some program or sight to just automatically put together tiles like this? But doesn't just cut them into squares like bubblelabs?
Gonna sleep, keep the suggestions and "votes" coming so i know what to chose for tommorow's thread.
>>67612386
>Waking Life.
Thanks
My country 3x3
Posting my Guilty PleasuresThe ones which aren't that embarrassing to like I actually adore, TDK especially, even if I know all the flaws.
>>67613031
>No Song of the Sea
saw in yesterday's thread the suggestion of themed 3x3's. I've been doing that for awhile now. Here's my country's 3x3. Enjoy.
>>67612665
yeah this is a great idea, i think a chart for films that people wouldn't normally want to watch (for whatever reason) i.e. a korine film, can spark a discussion and then decide to watch it
>>67612686
not that i know of and i don't make them myself so i coulndt really help you sorry senpai, try the link i gave out but if you find a better website make sure to post in these threads
>>67613031
nice
>>67613041

>>67613165

>>67613798

>>67613900
I feel some of these a little overrated, but no bad choices.
>>67613832
why does fucking no one except me like looney tunes back in action?
>>67613798
>>67613915
