Best Tarantino film?
>>
The one with the black guy.
>>
the one where the characters are pedantic and quirky and there's a lot of violence but it's really really stylized
and steve buscemi is in it
>>
Pulp Fiction, people can whine all they want, it's his best one.

My favourite is still Jackie Brown

Jackie Brown, funnily enough it's also the only one he didn't write an original story for.

Better questions:

Most under-rated? Inglourious Basterds

Most over-rated? Pulp Fiction come at me
>>
>no one saying Resevoir Dogs
You people sicken me.
It's hands down Pulp Fiction.
>>
>>67579992
Pulp Fiction is just an improved upon Reservoir Dogs t b h
>>
>>67579416
>>67579314
correct sir.
the story flowed flawlessly, Bobby D's last great role. for some reason the other Tarantino's films feel choppy, story-wise to me.
>>
>>67579271
True Romance.
He should just let other directors interpret his shit.
>>
>>67580384

NO.

Just NO.

He should write more than he directs (as he does), but he directs the right amount of films. He's been in the business since, what, 1993, and directed eight films. So one film every three years, thereabouts.
>>
Saying anything other than Deathproof is a sign of irrevarsable plebianism.
>>
>>67580708
That movie is genuinely bad.
>>
>>67580741
It's supposed to be, which pretty much means it's technically good.
>>
>>67580781
No, purposely bad movies can't be good
>>
I liked Reservoir Dogs and Hateful Eight the best
>>
>>67580781

>hurr durr durr
>>
>>67580781
Trying to make kitsch ironically doesn't make it art.
>>
Jackie Brown is the best
He should collaborate with De Niro more
>>
Inglorious Bastards tbqh.
>>
>>67580611
QT is the father of style over substance. When a real director like Tony Scott balances his bullshit out it becomes decent.
>>
>>67580869
>>67580888
>>67580890
You realize we're talking about Tarantino here, right? He's the guy whose movies are the epitome of fun cinema. I know some people who are self proclaimed Tarantino fans and whenever I hear them saying stuff like "Deathproof was such a bad movie I can't believe it was made by him" I find it 100 times more cringe than Deathproof itself.
>>
>>67579271

Reservoir Dogs is my favorite. I watched it 3 times in a row the first time I saw it. Kill Bill 1 and 2 are also a blast to watch any time.
>>
>>67580955

Style has a substance of it's own.

>>
>>67579271

>Best Tarantino film
It's an oxymorn, anon.

>Best
>Trantino film
Pick one.
>>
>>67581182

Best scene (not sequence, like best twenty to thirty seconds) in Kill Bill?

Pai Mei and Kiddo having rice
>>
>>67581245
Be as snarky as you wish, but QT has made some great movies. Sorry you can't enjoy nice things.
>>
>>67581245

>best
>relative
>objective

Pick two.
>>
>>67581072
No one said that, though. The question posed was which is the best one, of which there are some arguable answers, Deathproof not being one of them.
>whenever I hear them saying
Tarantino movies aren't really worth talking about to begin with. Like you said, they're "fun" movies.
>>
>>67579271
Either Pulp Fiction, Basterds or Hateful Eight.
All of them are good except for Django.
Reservoir Dogs is a bit weak, Death Proof and Kill Bill Vol. 2 are underrated, Vol. 1 and Django are very overrated.
>>
>>67581367

Okay, what was Inglourious Basterds /about/?
>>
>>67581245
Nice redundancy, oxymoron.
>>
>>67579909
Over-rated in the same way the Beatles are over-rated...rated so highly it would be impossible to not be over-rated.
>>
>>67581253
I like when Kiddo beats that teenager's ass with her sword and sends him crying to his mommy. That or the cereal gun in the first fight scene.
>>
>>67581395
about fiction/cinema/art/human imagination as a historical corrective
>>
>>67581395
Giving the audience what they want. It was a cheesy, self-aggrandizing premise that devolves into farce, literally skating Hitler.
>>
>>67579909
>>67581411
This is why this shitty "critique" needs to die.
>>
>>67581395
WWII movie about a guerrilla American military team and they kill Nazis. 9/10 would recommend
>>
>>67581367
Well, for me Deathproof is really one of his best, if not the best, simply because its whole point is being typically pretentious randomness from the beginning, instead of most of Tarantino's other movies which get there after some point, unintentionally or not.
>>
>>67581458
Slaying*
>>
>>67580888
good point
>>
>>67579469
That's actually /co/.
>>
>>67581488
You like kitsch for its own sake. I get it, there's nothing wrong with that. It's actually a good show of character to unabashedly admit that, as most snobs can't. But don't try to say Deathproof is a great movie, it's not.
>>
>>67579992
reservoir dogs is his weakest film (excluding shit like Four Rooms or fucking DJANGO)
it's one of the best debuts of all time, but there's no depth other than a cool story about male camaraderie told very, very well
pulp fiction has a million different ways to be read and is quite intentionally a BIGGER film, and so are most of the others
still, he pretty much reinvented himself post-jackie brown and all of his films are events and among the best things you can see in theatres
you can all think he is schlocky or for teenagers or whatever but to me it's pretty clear he is the only possible modern equivalent to someone like hitchcock or howard hawks-- genre directors delivering masterpieces that are hugely popular and obesely financed
>>
>>67581576
>But don't try to say Deathproof is a great movie, it's not.
I didn't, all I said was I find it to be a great *Tarantino* movie.
>>
>>67581453

I would agree.

But I think it's also about bigotry, they two are connected.

Why do people today hate Nazis? The same reason Nazis hated Jews. TV (or radio and the newspaper) told them to.

It's a film that Goebbels would like. And it's not pro-racist or pro-Nazi.

And it tricked Americans into watching a film full of subtitles. It's practically art-house.

>>67581458
>>67581485

Jesus Christ.
>>
Sorry fuckfaces it was Kill Bill.
>>
>>67581668
>And it tricked Americans into watching a film full of subtitles. It's practically art-house.
Having some bits of German, French or Italian here and there isn't exactly a film full of subtitles.
>>
>Tarantino
>film
Tarantino has never made a film in his life.
>>
>>67581668
>And it tricked Americans into watching a film full of subtitles. It's practically art-house.

Kek. I always like when scenes are in other languages. Wish more hollywood films would do it.
>>
>>67581668
>Basterds is an introspective journey about prejudice and hate
You're reaching, even for a Tarantino fan. There's nothing to suggest that in the least. All the Germans in the movie are deplorable monsters, and none of the film seems anywhere near that self-aware.
>>
>>67581766
Neither have you fag

Kill Bill Vol. 2 is the only Tarantula film I keep going back to.
>>
>>67581643
>Tarantino
>anything other than a cartoonish storyteller
>>
>>67581875
I don't understand why people don't watch both films together. That's like Watching LOTR Two Towers and calling it a day.
>>
>>67581813

All the Germans? The officer captured near the start? The sniper/actor? The random Germans in the background, every soldier?

And none of the Basterds, or other characters, are deplorable monsters?
>>
>>67581908
Whats wrong with that?

Best is either Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown

Worst is Inglorious Basterds.
>>
>>67582176
>The Sniper/Actor isn't deplorable

Doesn't he try to rape the french chick?
>>
>>67582294

He makes a sort of solid move on her, it was ambiguous, but she shoots him pretty much right away, so we don't know. One extra second of life and we would have.

The officer near the start wasn't a deplorable monster, was he?
>>
>>67582349
No, and the Basterds even sorta acknowledge it by saying he's dying for his country. Not disagreeing with you on that one.
>>
As far as Basterds is concerned, I wonder what the movie would have looked like if more of the basterds hadn't gotten killed. I suppose that's the whole idea of the conflict but it always bugs me.
>>
>>67582519

It could easily have been called 'This Is the Face of Jewish Vengeance' given that Shoshanna was at least as, if not more, of a main character than any of the Basterds.

At first this pissed me off, and the fact that we didn't see the Basterds do any actual fighting of Nazis, just killing prisoners and engaging in shoot-outs in bars and plotting assassination. But then I realized this was the point. They're only shown at their worst, to the Germans they run into, they're actually the way that Nazi propaganda depicts Jews.

And it's not an antisemitic film. And most people don't seem to think it's clever in the slightest. So QT did some real work there.
>>
>>67579306
I betcha it's Fargo
