In the 90s people were saying the 70s were the golden ages of cinema.

Wow, so many great flicks from the imdb top 250.
>>
>>67546950
I couldn't agree more.

Notice how none of those are reboots/remakes.
>>
>>67547022
Agree as well. I honestly noticed a sharp decline in quality of movies around 2003. Ever since then, pretty much all movies have been utter shit.
>>
>>67547129
2007 was one of the best years of film, period.

>>67547022
Reservoir Dogs is essentially a remake, Heat is a remake of L.A. Takedown, 12 Monkeys is a remake of La Jetée, Titanic is essentially a remake.
>>
>>67546969
The 70s still are the best.

Shame the Heaven's Gate fiasco shat all over the 80s though.
>>
>>67547256

>biografy/ history movies are remake

Get a load of this guy.
>>
>>67547308
70's was best for films, 80's was best for movies
>>
>>67547528
A lot is shamelessly lifted from A Night to Remember.

Without turning this into a shitfight, these are all pretty typical masculine films enjoyed by 14 year old white boys raised in the suburbs. I mean, I like a lot of them, but it's really kind of like it is just one type of movie.

And they are all Hollywood/UK too.

If I was going to name the best decade for film in general on a global scale, it would probably be the 60s. Or maybe the 20s. Probably the two most truly innovative time periods too.

To be fair Pretty woman and a shit load of iconic chick flicks like My Best Friend's Wedding, Clueless, and My Girl, came out in the 90s as well.

Movies also worth mentioning are Brave heart Scream, The Big Lebowski, Good will Hunting, Eyes wide shut, Armageddon, Edward Scissorhands, American Pie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns, Austin powers, Men In Black , Independence Day, Face off, and Basic Instinct.
>>
100% truu agree with OP. only good movies after 1999 are Tarantino Nolan and Fincher movies
>>

>Notice how none of those are reboots/remakes.
Yeah, the 90s sure didn't have any of them.

Except for

Cape Fear
Lost In Space
The Addams Family
101 Dalmations
Hook
Father of the Bride
Doctor Doolittle
The Nutty Professor
Flubber
Miracle on 34th Street
Godzilla
Homeward Bound
The Mummy
Freaky Friday
The Parent Trap
Psycho

Not to mention all the sequels. But yeah, 90s Hollywood was a bastion of pure originality, sure.

Are we starting this gay meme again?

>points out a limited list of remakes
Stay mad 2000s fag.
>>
>>67550349
I named the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I'm sure there were actually more, and like I said, I didn't include sequels, which were just as rife in the 90s as they are today, if not more so.
>>
>American Cinema
The 70s for sure - New Hollywood produced so many high quality movies.
>World Cinema
the 50s - Japanese, French, Italian, Swedish, definitely the highpoint of cinema.

The 90s had more original content in ten years than the 2000s has had in almost 17 years.

>>
>>67550743
That's debatable. Of the films listed in the OP, more than half are either adaptations or based directly on historical events. There are only a small handful of original premises in there.
>>
>>67546969
No one can ever sincerely say that the 80s was the golden age tho. 80s was shit bort in music and film.
