Variety of reasons:
1. Like >>67434079 said, Kylo was injured by Chewie on the bridge (gonna come to that later for a tangential comment), and it was shown through him slamming his fist into his side, the blood coming from it, etc.
2. Kylo's emotional state was pretty fucked. The movie shows him still being called to the light side of the Force, so even beforehe shanks Hanhe's an emotional mess. Patricide adds on to this emotional turmoil so his head was fucked up along with his body.
3. Rey did have some street fighting prowess with her staff, and while that may not translate directly into wielding a lightsaber effectively it still shows she is a fighter and knows how to defend herself. She'd have to living on Jakku for however long she was there.
4. Rey has the Force. When Finn fought Kylo (and TR-8R) he got BTFO despite having a lightsaber. Anyone can wield a saber, but not everyone can use it like a Force-user can. Rey is getting BTFO by Kylo as well until he makes the comment about having Rey join and learn from Kylo. Then she remembers "Oh yeah, the Force", becomes more focused, and is able to stand her own against a weakened opponent.
Back to my Chewie and the bridge scene. I'm a big "old" EU fan, in which Han rescued Chewie from slavery when Han was still in the Empire. Due to that, Chewie swore a life debt to Han and they've been together ever since. For Chewie to be content with winging the man who killed his best friend-even if that man was his best friend's son-broke Chewie's character for me, and really sunk in the fact that the Star Wars I grew up with was gone.

You don't need years of training, you just need to feel the force and believe. Luke played a game with Obi-Wan and that was enough to block three laser bolts in a row by the end of the scene. Believing in the force was enough to blow up the Death Star. When Luke finally does get training, he looses to Vader because of his own arrogance. With no additional training and just by reflecting on what he had learned, he was able to beat Vader in Jedi and really only by using the dark side.
Then take into account George Lucas in the 70s and 80s talking about the force as blatantly infusing the concept of faith onto the screen when movies were otherwise bleak or about realism and it's pretty clear the force is just a 'clap your hands if you believe' sort of thing.

Let's look at the first movie, to properly compare.
Luke does some pretty crazy, heroic stuff in the beginning. After having barely trained, he is able to aim the torpedoes into the small shaft while other experienced pilots (aided by computers) were not.
Rey goes through trials as well. And, I'm sure she will go through more in future movies (if she doesn't - then yeah, you might have a point).
I have no problem with her sudden realization of power any more than what else might have been rushed in the film (to be honest, some stuff, like the destruction of the LOL NOT THE DEATH STAR did feel slightly rushed).

Okay, here some idea they could have done better with Rey:
Show her interacting with a Wookiee to explain how she learn Shirywook (exemple Unkar Plutt, who could be a "evil" chewbacca.
When on her Speeder, show her making a barrel roll. Speeder and starships are not exactly the same, but it can ease believing she know how to pilot. Also the novels mention she learn throuh a simulator she salvaged: then show the simulator in her home.
During the chase, the turret is damaged but Finn has still a bit of control (the axis is less wide for exemple). It's Finn who tell her to do the flip so he can shoot the remaining TIE. That reinforce their teamwork (Finn as a good shooter with the ideas, Rey has a good pilot but still need help).
When she releases the Rathtar, she get caught instead of Finn, or both, and BB-8 is the one closing the door. That way she her mistake is made bigger (she suffers the consequences of it), and BB-8 has something to do beside being cute.
Instead of hitting the stormtrooper at her second shot, make it at the third. Emphasise she miss more often than she hits when the others stormtroopers pursue her.
When she uses the mind trick to make JB-007 drop his weapon, he refuses ("Get your own gun!"). This way even if she's a prodigy in the use of the Force, she still has room to improve.
Remove the stormtrooper turning back in the scene with Kylo trashing the room. When he throw a tantrum it should be frightening, not funny.
During her fight with Kylo Ren, channeling the Force should make the fight less uneven, not her surpassing him. A stalemate only broken by finn shooting at Kylo before falling inconscious again, for exemple. THEN she defeats him. OR after being defeated, while they are separated Kylo uses the Force to choke her, Finn shoot at him before falling unconscious, distracting Kylo and making him release Rey, who then flee.

Every other challenge for her Rey manages to pass it without any help from her friends.
