however for non-funny reviews the ones on roger ebert's site tend to take a more clinical look. I don't always agree but matthew seitz especially does a good job at doing his research. Some sjw reviewers on there though unfortunately

yeah I guess what I have in mind is kind of in the same vein. I kind of want to do live action scenes in between clips but I know that that could end up like Irate Gamer or some shit. It's not like "here's the review AND HERE'S ME BEING FUNNY HAHA LOOK AT ME and back to the review", the film I have in mind is tied to this character that I'm making that will be the reviewer, if that makes any sense.

1. Reviews for older or more obscure titles, rather than the same IMDB top 200 bullshit.
2. In depth discussion of genre conventions.
3. Information that isn't obvious and recited from Wikipedia.
4. Commentary from people who worked on the film (just think it's interesting sometimes).
5. Reviews that have an actual point or even a thesis to them, that feel focused and arrive at a conclusion.

This is where I kind of detatch from the normal idea of a review. The film (which I don't want to name) has this really creepy undertone/theme and the plan is to really explore it. So it's not "this is what the film does right, this is what the film does wrong. 7/10" but more like a essay that uses the film as a basis and is used to establish a character I created. Does that still count as a review?

Sounds more like a blog than a review. I think the review should still be a review, but I just think giving it a central idea helps make it stronger.

Is 720p acceptable on youtube nowadays? My camera is 1080p but it's resolution is low so I was thinking of downscaling it, and the file of the film I have is 720p. I was thinking of adding a VHS/TV effect to hide it, but RLM already do that.
