And the surgery is so that they can lose the weight quickly, a lot of them are in dire situations. Plus, having something that helps force them into good behavior can also help lead to good results. All it does is make the stomach smaller. It can still stretch further after the fact, making it a health hazard even. Imagine a balloon that only partially blows up. Tends to burst.
