Only had one good season. Only had one season that was bad but not offensively bad. Has three seasons so far that are made of rancid shit and look like a somewhat high-budget soap opera.

Breaking Bad is better. If GoT had stayed as excellent as it was in the first season, it would be the best series ever made. What happened? Why did D&D start inventing their own stupid shit and descend to such foolish and memeworthy stuff like bad pussy, Pod the Rod or Yarasha's Dreadfort escapade? There were some OC scenes in season 1, but they were as good as the rest of it, so why did the shows quality so greatly decline? I understand that some changes were necessary in order to adapt the books as a TV show, and I'm glad they left out things like Lady Stoneheart or Darkstar, but overall the show has gotten worse the further it has deviated from the original source material.

The problem lies in the books themselves. The first book is adapted almost page to page in the show. Then in season two they got into second book content and things began to change. They probably did this mainly because the first book is very linear and easy to adapt whereas the second book introduces many different plotlines and they were forced to cut. They probably realised at some point that the books slow down drastically and they had to add filler content to keep their audience interested. Hence bad pussy, shirtless ramsay, pod the rod etc.
