1) If a character is established in a position which logically means he should have a certain skillset, you don't have to devote time for him to build those skills.
For Example; Han is a roguish smuggler, ergo he doesn't have to have scenes dedicated to him learning to fly/shoot.
Princess Leia is a resistance fighter, so it makes sense she can shoot straight
Poe is a fighter pilot, so it makes sense he can fly well.
Kylo Ren was trained by Luke Skywalker, so it makes sense he can use the force competently
Now to contrast, if a character is NOT established in a position where they can logically use a certain skillset, you DO have to include time for the character to build those skills, or explain where they got them from
For example; Luke may have been a desert dweller, but it was laid out that he was training to be a pilot and was naturally strong in the force, ergo we accept that he's a good pilot despite his background.

Luke:
Lives on a farm, wants to join the (Imperial) Academy to make something of himself.
Is completely disillusioned from the empire when his adoptive parents (or uncle/aunt whatever you want to call them) get brutally murdered by the Empire because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Abandons his dream of going to the Academy which before he wanted really bad, to help a Jedi make contact with the rebel alliance who need him. He's hotheaded and a bit stuborn, but he has set a clear goal to stand up to the Empire and help the rebels, risking life and limb to rescue the trapped princess, and then to make a suicidal direct assault on the Death Star.
Rey and Finn just get thrown into trouble over and over again, except for Finn who "because of Rey" decides to join a suicide mission, though it is established right away that neither does he want to fight the First Order out of any sense of right, nor is comfortable on a battlefied. Except when he is, though not always, sometimes. Othertimes he's emotionally scarred for life, or rather until the next scene.
I guess the key here is consistency.
Luke is an actual character. He has a motivation which is clearly defined, and against which he doesn't go.
Finn in particular is depicted as someone with the attention span of a goldfish, while Rey's sole motivation is "I wanna go home, but I have a berserker mode I can turn on so it looks like I'm invested in the current conflict during action sequences".

There were leaks set in some city, had Rey and Finn dressed up, him with a love interest and her looking wistful and being told my the scene director that Rey was "feeling conflicted, thinking about him after seeing Finn with her" or something like that. They also confirmed more flashbacks to the temple massacre v2.0

I liked the villian, Old Han solo was...passable, plot is lazy as fuck but whatever, Finn was actually interesting
Rey was one of the largest flaws in the movie. She was so perfect and good at everything it actually damaged the other characters in the movie.
