It's been pretty disappointing seeing Daredevil take a backseat in his own show and Franks story hasn't really been satisfying either.
Overall, I'd say it's on par with season one which was good but definitely dropped off towards the end.
All of the performances from all of the actors are great, it's just this average plot and writing.

Well she worked very hard with Urich in S1 and her ability as a researcher is consistently shown.
I liked Karen's view because she wants him to be this good soul that isn't damaged but still feels his way is sometimes the right way. She was trying to save the last piece of humanity Frank had left as by killing him, the war continues and now Frank is just a soldier in his own personal war that will never end, he becomes 'The Punisher' forever more.
Karen was trying to make him stay rooted to Frank Castle and I can see why she did that. It was never about him being good or bad, it was about her trying to make him keep his humanity by lashing out and saying things she knows she didn't mean.
If anything I found Karen's logic to be more sound than Matt's.

I don't understand. Matt became such an unlikeable character this season. Practically cheating on Karen, dismissing his friends, being a dumb fuck, fucking everything up, and Elektra was so goddamn annoying.

Would have spared them both a lot of drama and effort.
Also, I wish Matt's no killing policy would be vindicated a little better in the show. Instead it's like the writers all went "yeah, killing everyone would be easier and yield better results, but he's, like, Catholic". I wish there was at least one scene where it was brought home that his non killing ways can yield good, contrasted with a moment of The Punisher messing up, if only to even things out.

Killing Reyes was a bad idea. I personally liked the DA subplot, and am sad to see it not returning or not being as relevant in S3.
That said, Reyes dying BECAUSE of a "vigilante" (of course the viewer knows that Punisher didn't kill her but the rest of the world doesn't), could actually be relevant later with Jessica Jones S2 or Luke Cage, or even Daredevil S3.

My whole family cheered when Frank shut the door in Page's face. Every time someone listened to her, basically any time she opened her mouth, the entire room was filled with groans of annoyance. Anytime something blew up in her face, or someone told her to fuck off, or just Frank turning his back on her everyone seemed happier.
The writers were inserting her everywhere, especially places she didn't belong, often doing things Matt should have been doing. I have no idea why she still exists in this show outside of the writers desperately throwing her at every situation under the sun and it never working.
I was sick of her by the end of the first season, but I so wanted her to die this season and when Elektra got offed instead I was pissed. I mean, at least the writers understand killing a character that PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE was going to have more effect but Karen is a billion ton weight around this show's neck.

She never fully dealt with killing Wesley, and how could she if she never told anyone about it, so she looks for any indication that you can kill a villain and still be a good person. Because it's all about her. She fucked over so many people since Wesley, it's not even funny. That excuse doesn't hold up for the majority of situations they forced her character into, constantly making her the most annoying and self centered little fuckwit on the planet while they were at it. She has gotten multiple people killed since wesley. She's gotten people fired and demoted. She nearly got one dude's leg cut off.
She has a higher body count than some of the villains in Marvel's shows.
Her whining at people and being wishy washy about everything, being unable to hold the same opinion for more than five seconds, and constantly fucking people over didn't make her interesting. It made her fucking infuriating.
There was no dilemma. There was only her. It was always about her. No one ever mattered but her. Frank didn't matter, it was all about her. His family didn't matter it was all about her. Frank killing people didn't matter, it was all about her. Frank not listening to her mattered BECAUSE IT WAS ALL ABOUT HER. Frank shooting people when she told him not to only mattered because IT WAS ALL ABOUT HER.
Frank should have shot that fucker responsible for killing his family. There was never a question about it. There's no moral dilemma about it unless you're a millennial fuckwit. Some people can't be saved, and putting some people in a cage (HELLO FISK) does nothing but create a new power base for them.
Matt's no kill morals got more people hurt and killed than it ever saved. Elektra was only wounded because of Matt's moral fuckwittery. Hell, if matt had just accepted that elektra had killed the kid who tried to kill them half the bad shit that went down wouldn't have gone down. Nah page is poison with a mile high body count, getting people fired and demoted left and right and nearly got a dude's leg cut off. That's pure toxicity right there. Everything is about her, no one matters, and if it looks like they might she finds a way to make their issues about her.
Elektra is just a normal girl that was had her early life shaped by fucking assassins, and understandably ended up a bit fucked up. Matt would have been better off with her, and between her morals and his morals they both would have eventually found a middle ground center that kept either one from going to the extremes of their morals.
The problem with Matt and Elektra, alone, without one another, is they have no counter balance. Matt goes too far one way, and people get hurt because he applies the no kill rule to people that the law and jails couldn't rightly handle anyways. Elektra goes too far because she's so paranoid about problems coming to bite her in the ass that the only way out, to her, is to kill all the problems, putting them down for good.
A moral balance between the two is the best bet. Sometimes people should be handled by the law and put in jail. Sometimes people really just can't be saved and really are too dangerous to let live, and will only thrive in a jail cell, or, worse, get worse, and eventually get out.

Speaking as a huge fan of the Punisher, this version of him bothers me. The Punisher would never shoot a gun at someone if an innocent was in the way like in the hospital, he'd never let the torture of a dog stop him in any way and I'm only on episode 4.
This image is one of several from the Garth Ennis' definitive Punisher run that perfectly encapsulates Frank and so far I haven't seen any moment like it. Frank seems too emotionally unstable in this, he isn't as cold as he should be.

Deep down all he wants is a never-ending war, he's glad his family is dead because now he has an excuse. In Born, it's implied he bargained his families life to get that war. In MAX its implied Frank knew the shooters were there and his last words were 'what the fuck are you waiting for?'
This idea that he was just a regular family man that's been pushed too far comes off as the lite interpretation of Frank rather than the extreme he is; it's just so shallow, man has family killed so he's out for revenge. It's like when comics depict Superman shallowly as just a hero rather than something like in Red Sun where it takes the idea of a character to a conclusion.

I liked the ninjas. Maybe it's because you don't see ninjas depicted seriously in many things. Every time they turned up I was like "Haha, yes! Honest to God ninjas!" I was pretty happy when I saw a ninja with a machine gun. I like Nobu with his knife+meat hook on a chain.
I admit there were one too many ninja fights though. It's more a problem with the show being two or three episodes too long - a problem all three of these Netflix hows have suffered from.

I think it makes sense for this Frank. He isn't REALLY The Punisher quite yet, you'll see him become that as the season goes on. Right now he's just angry, vengeful, and highly skilled, just not as focused.
This Punisher was trained to kill in the Middle East on his tours, whereas, say, MAX Punisher is fully forged and formed by the time he became The Punisher. Daredevil's Frank doesn't say "Yes" until the end.

Every list does have Punisher as one of the good aspects of this season. He was the single best part of the whole thing, and the season drops in quality dramatically after episode 4. When Punisher meets Fisk in prison it gets great again, but otherwise the season ended up being pretty disappointing whenever Frank wasn't involved.

First season was awesome because of Fisk and his personality. We had a picture about his life, about his motives etc.

The worst part of this season was Nobu.
His fight against Matt in season 1 was the best thing in season 1. He was such a minor character (comparatively) but the build up was still there and the execution of it was absolutely perfect.
Then this season he shows up, gets his ass kicked a bunch, and dies. It was even more disappointing than Frank just showing up to shoot four mooks and leaving after deciding to go full Punisher.
