In 2002, I saw a 40 inch flat panel TV on diisplay. The price tag: $12,000.

You find it strange that the era of FD Trinitron consisted of CRTs

How young are you OP?

CRTs were still the thing until around the 360/HDDVD/Blu Ray memes. So until around 2006.
>>
>>67309161
In Australia it was around the same time. Partially because our Prime Minister gave most people a few hundred dollars to spend, and digital TV stations launched at the same time.
>>
>>67308338

I've noticed this same kind of fit about payphones. There are people who've trained themselves to sperg out all over the entire internet if they ever see a payphone in a movie.
>>
>>67310144
Bull***t, CRTs are a thing from the 80s, my family in 2000 had a led TV and so all my neighbours, I wasn't yet born at the time but I saw pictures, if you put a CRT in movies set after the 90s you're making it wrong
>>
>>67308338
>>67311241

My family didn't have a TV till 2003, and we had a CRT from then till about 2008.

Not even poor either, my sister and I were both big readers as kids and my parents weren't into TV
>>
>>67308338

I remember playing my Gamecube on a black and white TV.
>>
>>67308338
I still have 2.
>>
>>67309201
my sister has one of these (XBR910)

I got her a DVI to HDMI cable with a Roku 720p for Christmas and calibrated the picture so the geometry was flat and scaled to the image.

That set is fucking nice; the contrast is perfect
>>
>>67308723
VHS can look good on flat panels with a good VCR

Laserdiscs always look like shit on non-CRTs though
