Did Balish intend for Joffrey to kill Ned? He seems to try to stop it, but it played into his plans.
>>
He is most likely the one who gave Joffrey the idea in the first place
>>
He is a little guy
>>
>>67246025
How did it play into his plans? The war between the Lannisters and the Starks would have happened anyway, as Robb was marching towards King's Landing to free Ned. His death didn't really change anything, did it?
>>
>>67246025
varys whispers something angrily to him in the background after giving up trying to stop the beheading
>>
>>67246025
Was getting Ned killed part of his plan?
>>
>>67247742

there was no chance for peace after that point

they might have just given them jaime for sansa and letting ned take the black

SANSA

KING'S LANDING WAS ONE THING
>>
>>67248149
Is he able to make any other face?
>>
>>67247983
They still ended up making the Jaime for Sansa deal though. Actually, it was orchestrated by Lord Baelish himself, who secretely met Catelyn and convinced her to make the trade.
>>
>>67248149
Clegane?
>>
Joffrey's actually not going to kill Ned until Baelish convinces him to. He wants the realm to completely fall apart and the king killing the warden of the north is a huge help in doing that. He also hates Ned in general for being with Cat.
>>
>>67248748
HODOR?
>>
>>67248833
Why would he try to convince Ned to take the black in the first place only in the last moment for Joffrey to change his mind?
This doesn't make sense.
>>
>>67249012

I don't know, as he was intentionally trying to start a war between the North and the Lannisters. Bad writing?
>>
>>67249012

And wasn't it Varys trying to convince him to take the black anyway?
>>
>>67249012
>Why would he try to convince Ned to take the black in the first place
That was Varys. Littlefinger says nothing to Ned after betraying him.
>>
>>67248261
Poor guy is stuck playing the slithering, smooth talking, scheming prick.

Can you see him playing anything other than that kind of role? As a naive good guy? He's type cast. Once his face comes on screen, you know not to trust his character.

I just started watching this show

whats the general consensus, which seasons are the best? does it get good and then drop, is it on a decline, is it ruined from the original vision with popularity?

>Did Balish intend for Joffrey to kill Ned?

The books mention that Littlefinger was as surprised as anyone over Joffrey's actions and it's not like Joffrey needed any encouragement in being a psychopath.

>S5: 7.5/10

Please please tell me how you can give this season a 7.5? There isn't a single redeeming episode and very few scenes that are interesting in the slightest only service to push a convoluted and illogical plot.
>>

>There isn't a single redeeming episode
Hardhome
>>
>>67246025
The beauty of Littlefinger's schemes is that they work reactively. He is a genius in the sense that he can use circumstances to his advantage without having to plan every step in advance.
>>
>>67251898
The King's Landing, Stannis, Jon, Arya, Bolton stuff was all pretty good to great.
>>

This is pretty bang on

Of course it doesn't make sense, it's not supposed to. Littlefinger is doing Littlefinger shit and we still don't know anything about it.
