WHY DO ALL MOVIES AND SERIES HAVE A FORCED UNNECESSARY ROMANCE SUBPLOT
because normies like love
To nail all demographics and to keep women interested.

You should stop watching movies. Try films.

I get that kino is supposedly lower than movie and apparently film is higher than movie. What about cinema? Is it above film? Flick is the lowest and feature is the highest? What about motion picture or cinematography?
WE WUZ LOVERS N SHIEET
It goes like this
Kino > Cinéma > Film > Movie > Flick

>please spoonfeed me
Kill yourself redditor
>>67242706
How else are you supposed to find out?
>>67242575
Wew you sound retarded
Kino
Film
Movie
Flick
The rest are just subcategories that memers like to throw out there. But there's a big difference between a movie like The Thing and a film like The Seventh Seal. It's not a measurement of quality, just of the size and reach of the movie. Now, things like capeshit are flicks, thus flicks are often seen as bad. But you have something like Holy Motors that's more like a film but it's absolute shit.

Or just figure it out on your own
It's easy and convenient writing. Makes the main character seem more likable, legitimizes his cause etc. Also especially writers starting out just feel that it is a necessary part of the stories.
>>67242795
That's what I do, but people use it so arbitrarily and memetic that it's impossible to figure out by lurking
>>67242706
Sure, sure, whatever excuse you need, son.
>>67242206
Because the companies think that to draw in women, a romantic subplot is needed. This is the reason why some of the most manly movies have romantic subplots.
>>67242775
My point being, there are good and bad of each category, but there are different types of motion pictures. As for sub categories, something like cinema could be synonymous with film or kino, or somewhere in between. Meanwhile, motion picture is more of an encompassing term, referring to all of them

Titantic is a flick
It's designed to appeal to as wide as possible of an audience, makes no real original artistic statement, merely apes off tragic events and disaster porn. It's a blockbuster flick. Fuck you redditor.
>>67243012
What if I label everything with all of them?
Every movie is a flick is a film is kino is cinema
>>67242206
I hate that shit too. Its annoying as fuck, and unimportant as well. Ice age is the most prominant and cringiest of that trope.
>>67242775
you forgot cínémá
>>67243177
What the fuck are you going on about? There's validity to the fact that there are different types of movies, with different purposes or reaches, but there's no definitive categorization. It matter literally zero what you call what, just that you can tell the difference between Zack Snyder and Tarkovsky

>>67242206
Romance is something most people (read: not you or me) can relate to.
>>67243565
Maybe in third world shitholes. Women in the West are taught how they're worthless unless they go out and do exactly what men do and that having babies just gets in the way of that super awesome career in sales.
>>67243801
No you're wrong women still want babies, a majority.
>>67243860
Literally every Western European country is at replacement or below level fertility, and those countries who's population is growing are only doing so thanks to third world immigration. It's cultural. The more educated the women the less likely she is to have kids.
>>67243290
We have genres for that. Using synonyms for the word movie everybody uses differently and that don't have commonly agreed on properties for distinctiob is just plain retarded
>>67242206
Because that's what people want. You just mad because you can't relate. If the movies were about a man falling in love with a chinese cartoon you'd be all over that.
>>67245514
Why isn't there a movie about that yet actually? Pretty much every single premise of a story you can think of you can find in movies except that. Even though there is a significant amount of people who legitimately fall in love with imaginary characters. Why?
>>67245661
Because movies aren't real life

People love their fuckings.
>>67245947

>>67245921
Why does it hurt so much
>>67246488
Where? The only thing close to romance I can remember is when he had flashbacks to when his wife was still alive. But that's not a romance subplot, that's character background.
>>67242206
Watch Barton Fink and take extra notice of the producer, how he behaves, what he says and what he stands for.

fucking hell prescriptive answers like this are the worst. it's just like hey, I'm smarter than you and too good to explain shit to you, but you should go commit hours of your life some shit based on my vague riddles. There is nothing being asked that you couldn't just explain instead of doing that. You haven't got some superior understanding that can only be gleaned from watching a movie. Nothing talked about here is that complicated, you are just a dick who won't talk to people unless they get to condescend to them.

>>67242206
Good question, but for some reason it's a well established convention, and many movies that don't have a romantic subplot are hard to make work, or bomb at the box office. There's some notable examples of great movies without romantic subplots, Moby Dick comes to mind.
