Lost Potential: The Film

First of all, they might as well have had some kind of resolution to the "kidnapped dead girl" plotline. It's a mystery that by the end (because aliens) is completely irrelevant within the story, so why leave it unsolved.

Speaking of the aliens - shit was cliche as hell. Throwing a molotov cocktail into the mouth of the biomechanic one, somehow causing it to die/explode. Feel like I've seen that a million times already. And the ending implication that she's going to help the resistance with her mad sewing skills was pure cringe (I thought she was going to wake up in an alien cell at the end when the screen went black after the ship dropped the car for maximum POTTERY, which I think would have been a better ending)

your last point is valid, but how is the kidnapped dead girl irrelevant when it becomes the entire key to Howard's (in)sanity?

It IS the narrative.

So you didn't like Cloverfield Aka Half-Life The Movie? Boo Hoo

Goddamn Cloverfield was why we have to sift through 200 'found footage' movies every year to find one classically filmed shitbox to watch.

Absolutely fuck that film to its core, and any of its spawn.

>Howard can't fit in the air ducts
>The earring and message were found in the air filtration unit area that is only accessible through the air ducts because the hatch had been jammed up by something

Explain this.

Goodman also should have made it out of the bunker to have a final confrontation with MEW. Their struggle then could have attacked the aliens, and they could have killed him in some gory, satisfying way. Not only would that have helped to merge the two sides of the story, it also wouldn't have meant that Goodman would die in an offscreen explosion.

>but how is the kidnapped dead girl irrelevant when it becomes the entire key to Howard's (in)sanity?

It's only relevant until she leaves the bunker. At that point everything Goodman and bunker-related takes a backseat to the aliens. So they might as well have resolved that plotline instead of keeping it ambiguous.

>What is Blair Witch

Retardation. Nothing is ever a "stealth" prequel or adaptation.
>>
>>67219959
the girl had been kidnapped and died prior to the event, so the bunker was just his waifu/daughter fap bunker and he could freely roam outside.

She probably discovered the hatch while trying to fix something, Howard found out she was trying to escape, making him go outside the bunker to where the hatch was and opened it from the outside.

Sure... What is Cabin in the Woods.
>>
>>67220042
neither a stealth prequel nor an adaptation...

>>67220036
But it was locked from the inside.

Is that your final answer?

inb4 that one autist posts his youtube review again that no one likes

Do you have some weird fixation with gameshows? It's starting to get weird.

I liked the original ending/script before J.J. came in and was like
>you know what this movie is missing aliums

maybe the filtration room was built before the rest of the bunker, or maybe that area was the entire bunker before Emmett got involved and helped him flesh it out.

the vent may not have been the only entry/exit point of that room at that time. but sure, it's a big question mark.

what's unresolved? the girl died. that's closure.

Why does everyone have an issue with the Molotov cocktail?
It is clearly established that the green pesticide the ships spray is extremely flammable and explosive. She threw the Molotov cocktail in the ship, and it blew up because the gas inside ignited.

She went to help the resistance because her character arc had been completed - she had finally stopped running from her problems.
She brings this up to Emmet. In the bunker, Emmet takes the fall for her like her brother used to. That was the last time.

It isn't a mystery. Howard was a conspiracy nut who worked for a company that did something with satellites. Satelites attracted the aliens, or somehow let him know that aliens were coming. In preparation for this, Howard built the bunker. His family thought he was crazy so they left him. All he wanted to do was protect his daughter. So, he kidnapped a girl to be his daughter and keep her safe. Obviously, she died - whether she killed herself or he killed her doesn't matter. He probably dissolved her in acid.
Then, the attacks happened.

I will concede that the writing was a bit lazy on this part because the movie was not originally going to include aliens. Howard, originally, was going to be an actual crazy kidnapper conspiracy nutjob who just abducted girls.

Maybe aliens should be smart enough not to use extremely flammable gas inside a ship with a huge opening, it'd be like a human battleship keeping tanks of fuel just inside the hull.

the aliens in War of the Worlds literally died because of common Earth diseases. Movie aliens don't know jack shit.

>Why does everyone have an issue with the Molotov cocktail?

Because it's been done countless times before, particularly in videogames.

An explanation of what really went down, numbnuts.
