The Last 10 Days...
Interesting in that it's an assembly of various testimony and journals from the last weeks in Hitler's bunker.
There's a rare moment in there that suggests Hitler was unaware of the scale of the Final Solution, and did not approve when he had it revealed to him. It is, in that sense, unusual in its sympathy for the man, portraying his humanity on that and a number of other levels, even if it still condemns him.

Its not about Hitler at all. As you said, he is just a silly goof, a stereotypical evil villain with only one dimension as a character.
