Why is TV not cozy like it used to be? Was it the transition to HD replacing that warm fuzzy glow with sharp bright florescent lighting? The overall pessimism and sarcasm that's everywhere in today's shows?
>every past time was better
>le born in le wrong generation
You need therapy mate, being nostalgic about shit like that isn't good
TV shows and movies (and most forms of art) are objectively better decade after decade
TV Shows can be considered art, and art reflects the society in which it was made. TV is not cosy any more, because Western society is not cosy any more. In order to answer your question, you'd have to determine what made Western society lose its cosiness in the first place.

'no'

By society, I mean moreso by community/clique/culture/movement/etc. Society was just a way to simplify it.

>TV shows and movies (and most forms of art) are objectively better decade after decade
That is incorrect
It is true of Tv and popular media, but higher art (be it film, music. or visual arts) have fallen quite a bit
Can you name even 1 film that could be considered a "masterpiece" since 2010?

It's a fact that television peaked in the 90's, before Reality TV took over and tongue-in-cheek went out of fashion

My internet is slow as fuck and just by loading the first pixeles I knew which image it was

I would say that it was the end of the Cold War. Even until the mid 90s when the threat of war was gone there was the residual effects of people just wanting to have fun and be weird and really value the things that matter in life.

What's the matter, anon? Do you not like meta-irony, sex jokes, weed jokes, and cringe?

>there are people in the year 2016 who think they understand evolution then call other people evolution deniers
if somethings formulaic, then the people selling it will know what to do. it's like natural selection guided by Adam Smith's invisible hand and enables formulaic nonsense to just flood the market.

i stand corrected
genuinely thought that was from 2009 for some reason

how does Judge Dredd hold up? Haven't seen it in a fool's age

I've never actually seen it desu. I just remember finding that scene on YouTube somehow. Looks like a dreadful filmpun intended, if I may be honest.

Yeah but there's boring bad and there's fun bad, I'm thinking it's probably the latter.
>>67198356
It certainly seems fun-bad, yeah.
>>67197693
The answer, of course, is you. What you are willing to accept in a tv show has changed. There are still shows that are clever, friendly, soft, unique, weird, adventurous, but you aren't watching them. They don't relate to you.
>>67198410
Which shows, specifically?
You can't stay in here all day dreaming about heroin and Ziggy Pop.
>>67197863
bullshit. the 2000's had 10/10 tv.
Can't this just be a Pete and Pete thread? Great album btw.
