I have to be honest, first 5 seasons of BH90210 are really comfy, they're great.
As someone old enough to remember its first air show was beloved but I hated it since day 1, maybe since I didn't reach puberty yet at that point, it was garbage on par with Gossip Girl or something like that, I still remember the episodes when Dylan was chased by mobsters or something like that, my sister was crazy about it.
Also the episode when the blonde autistic guy accidentally killed himself is hilarious, I remember laughed out loud and my sister and mom get mad at me
Just watch The O.C. instead.
Same soap opera schtick, but with much better writers.

They were spoiled yet, they were nice people.
The Walsh had good ethics, Steve, Andrea and even Dylan although he smoked and drank.
Donna was the girl who wanted to wait to be married to have sex.
Drugs were considered bad (I remember an epic moment with Steve and a pipe of weed or something) when nowadays, it would almost be considered as a must-do.
Of course, it was a Rich White People-The Show and you're probably right about the nostalgia goggles but I maintain that it was less vulgar than the shows aimed at teenagers today.
