The atmosphere of the movie is really strong imo. Being put in a scenario where shit is really hitting the fan but without information of what's going on being thrown at you, so it actually has the correct sense of alarm and excitement provided. It makes for a great ride.
Also the premise, found footage and giant monsters in cities is complimentary as fuck.

I haven't seen it since it was in theatres, but I remember getting a headache. I geuss maybe it could have been the annoying fucker holding the cam thoigh.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember the motivations of the 4 main characters were to save dude1's girlfriend who he had just broken up with in an ugly way. So in the midst of a horrible disaster whose origins are unknown the 4 of them decide to go across NYC to find this girl who is probably not interested in dude1 anymore, and is also most likely dead. 3 out of the 4 main characters had nothing to gain from finding her as well.
Perhaps I'm being to critical since I have no idea what Id do in a panic stricken state like that. I don't think I would have gone to save my ex girlfriend. Especially once they saw that it was a giant monster.
