I really wanna watch this but I've been hearing it's just so-so. How could it go wrong? Cranston in 1950's Hollywood during the Red Scare?

>RT: 74%
>Metacritic: 60%
>The Independent: 3/5

Is it boring or misadverstied? Who fucked up something that was clearly hard to fuck up?
>>
Maybe the casting director who decided to hire a meme actor to play Dalton fucking Trumbo
>>
>>67180898
I haven't seen it but I've heard a bunch of people say it's a typical overly saccharine biopic that distorts the truth. Dalton Trumbo was a hardcore communist who supported Stalin but if what I've heard is true the film makes him out to be a harmless socialist.
>>
>>67180946
Cranston was fine you fucking autist. They fucked up by casting Louis C.K.
>>

>pixar face

Now who thought that was a good idea
>>

wow, what a shitlord, he really should have checked his privilege

embarassing

What?
>>
>>67180981
Did he state that killing was justice when it comes to ideology?
>>
>>67181184
Yup, Trumbo fully believed in violent revolution. He supported Stalin's purges, he supported Hitler bombing Great Britain since at the time Hitler and Stalin were allies. He was a great writer but a vile human being.
>>
>>67180898
>movie sympathizing rich overly privileged retarded communists
>>
>>67180898
It's shot like a TV movie and instead of taking a hard look at Trumbo's life it makes him look like a saint. It seems like Hollywood will never ever make a blacklist movie that's accurate.
>>
>>67181312
hollywood is seriously fucked up ideologically. Theyre trapped in the 20th century idolizing people like che guevara, fidel castro, chavez etc.
>>
>>67181061
Woody and Moses aren't even doing the face.
>>
Just saw it. Was okay. Didn't need to be 2 hrs though. SJWs should be forced to watch it.
>>
>>67181404
Forgot to mention the only saving grace of the movie is Cranston. He delivers a great performance. If the movie had taken a real look at Trumbo it could've been amazing.
>>
>/pol/ millenials revision history once again because McCarthy was a good boy he dindu nuffin
>>
>>67181493

I can't be the only one who thinks Cranston is absurdly hammy, in every role. His real gift is comedy; in dramatic performances he's still funny, just not always on purpose
>>
>>67181534
McCarthy was an evil bastard but so was Trumbo. If you seriously believe Hollywood's "THE BLACKLISTED WEREN'T COMMUNISTS! THEY WERE PEACE LOVING LIBERALS!" narrative you're an idiot.
>>
>>67181534
I don't have to like Mccarthy to be able to mock retards who idolize a failed 20th century ideology and praised corrupt monsters like Stalin
>>
>>67181534
>instead of objectively looking at things I'm gonna mindlessly eat up Hollywood propaganda
>what do you mean Trumbo wasn't a saint? You must be a lying /pol/ millennial!
>>
1. the red scare was real. There really were communist Americans subverting and undermining America. And looking back to see where we are today, they won.

2. Trumbo was one of those communists.

vote Sanders amirite? A complete overhaul of our generally successful system sounds like a great solution to the very recent problems we've been facing. fuck the establishment lol!

generations of retarded union public teachers and hippie professors have brainwashed generations of children into think socialism works.

It was okay.
Cranston carried it. Everything else was just okay.

Look all around you. Look at how the powers are about to over-rule the public vote choosing Trump to limit us to what the powers decide.

The Marxists won and are in control.

i meant failed economically as in they just destroy what they try to build up. they have won in many ways politically and socially. dominating the media, entertainment, and academia.
>>
>>67182219
not really. he's a psycho leftist. have you even seen his interviews and twitter posts. the guy is unstable.
>>
>>67182219
I went to watch in the theatre. I dont regret it, but if I had known how this movie turned out, i'd rather watch it at home while being comfy. But its worth a watch anyway.
>>
>>67182269
What? Cranston is a leftist but he isn't psycho at all. He's very chill compared to most Hollywood leftists.

>commies were the biggest killer and biggest evil of the 20th century

>history books and Hollywood push the narrative that the nazis were the greatest evil because they support commie ideologies as well as Jews being at the very heart of communism and its violent spread.

No one ever tells the fucking truth. It's all romanticized Che being a chill guy riding the countryside on a motorcycle while American leftists romanticized for preaching "social equality."

>being a Communist = being Evil

alright
>>
>>67182476
Supporting Stalin's purges and Hitler's bombings is pretty fucking evil. Trumbo didn't give a shit if millions of innocent people died as long as communism reigned supreme.
>>
>>67180898
Bryan Cranston is pretty cool but what is with the dick riding on /tv/? or as someone who never watched BB would I not understand?
>>
>>67180898
Fuck everybody! Just watch it. Very good movie.
>>
>>67182543
>or as someone who never watched BB would I not understand?
This is your problem, senpai. Go watch Breaking Bad, he's incredible in it.
>>
>>67182476
it makes you incredibly naive. and someone who supports the level of oppression and authoritarianism that communism requires to be achieved is probably pretty evil deep down.
>>
>>67182476
I know you're just joking right now, but kills me knowing there are people who actually believe this bullshit.
>>
it looks like a made for tv movie to be honest. if it didn't have elle in it i wouldn't have even bothered to download it. i still haven't been able to bring myself to watch it yet.
>>
>>67182269
>what is a public persona
>what is feeding off the energy of others
>>
>>67182677
>that communism requires to be achieved

communists outside the USSR were naive as fuck about Soviet Russia back then.

naivety is the defining characteristic of communism, not totalitarianism. the central premise is that literally everyone is on some kind of committee and votes on decisions so no one is in charge. it's fucking stupid and unworkable because not enough of the population can realistically contribute to making decisions, so totalitarianism is the result because oh dear you just centralized all power. that wasn't the intention it just vastly overrated people's willingness to engage with anything outside of their own lives, because it was conceived of by liberal intellectuals like Marx and Trumbo.

in the end Stalin was pretty much just another Tzar right down to the secret police and the sending of dissidents to Siberia.

The individual apathy you speak of is born of the distance between the individual and the "collectivity" that capitalism engenders.
