mpc-hc because its easy to drag n drob sub files
>>
>>67142655

Really? Doesn't that turn into a bitch and a half with codecs?
>>

>>
>>67142665
i don't care about all that.
>>
>>67142673
>ugly media player

It's the most minimalist player on the god damn planet, and BE adds youtube-playback and a slightly better render configuration for minimal tearing.

mpc-hc with all the custom codecs and stuff
>>
>>67142662

I won't bully. I used VLC in my time, and though it's a cluttered mess now, it served well in its time.

>>67142663

I agree, it's good for that. Did you ever find any good subtitle database to hook it up to?

I also really like the auto-load feature, where if your file is the same name as your subtitle it'll auto-load it.

>>67142691

But, there are certain formats you can't watch in WMP without codecs. How do you get around that?
>>
>>67142673
>ugly

Fucking how? It's a fra with the video in it. You don't even have to HAVE a UI.
>>
MPC HC with Madvr
pretty based

Mpv
>>
>>67142875
>Mpv

I remember this. Did they kill the transparent UI yet?

Christ that was ugly.
>>
>>67142957
No, I don't mind it at all though, especially since I switched from VLC.

>VLC so cluttered I can barely focus on the movie
>MPV so minimalist I can barely see it through its transparency
>>
>>67143037

You should try MPC. But MPV is a good alternative I guess.

I can't believe I used to vouch for VLC. To be young and foolish again.
>>
VLC isn't that bad once you configure it
>>
>>67143115

It's a cpu-leeching mess that does everything you don't need.
>>
>>67142662
This.

Just full screen it man lmao.
>>
>>67143142
you on a pentium 4?

>>67143169
it is stupid how there isn't a totally minimal view with no window border. you can do it on linux and windows but you have to use a command
>>
>>67143169
>I don't multitask other applications while watching things

Pls no
>>
>>67143204
If you are on a laptop, you'll start to notice pretty quickly how terrible VLC is with resources, even when it performs like shit with 4k.
>>
>>67143169
>full screen

Is for intense, focused movie sessions only.
>>
>>67143298
why you watching stuff in 4k? you have a 4k resolution laptop?

mpv>MPC
>>
>>67143332

Now now, calm your autism. MPV is good, but the sleek lightness of MPC cannot be topped.

I have a 4k desktop and my laptop is 1880p I think so if possible I watch 4k on both.

MPC is perfect. Even though VLC isn't as terrible as it once was, there really is nothing wrong with MPC. It looks perfect, not cluttered, not over-designed. It's simplistic and no ui element gets in the way of whatever it is your playing.
>>
>>67143618
it's not as good at streaming as VLC

Explain?

I've viewed several streams with MPC and never encountered issues

VLC, quality is fine, easy to use and automatically detects subs unlike another player I used a few years ago. Not planning on changing anytime soon.

The fuck are you talking about, the linux distro you choose can be as bloated or as barebones as you want.
