Either the season needed more episodes or Pizzolatto should've completely rewritten the first 3 or 4. Things only started to become interesting in the aftermath of that stupid shootout. They also killed Woodrugh off in the same episode I actually became invested in his character.
Also fuck them for killing off W Earl Brown so early, he was in the season for maybe 8 minutes total
I loved this season and Vince posting is one of the few things that can make me laugh obnoxiously loud.

Pizzolatto had a script pretty much completed about a period drama with a completely different plot and shit and was forced to change everything and re-work what little was left of it in-production, there was huge exec meddling.

It definitely did feel a lot more hopeless than s1. In s1 there was no indication that anyone outside of the church/bayou cult was at all okay with the crimes. In s2 it's implied that almost everyone in a position of power is aware to some degree, and they're all okay with it.
