Why is this scene considered iconic? I just see it as a filler

wtf I hate Tarantino now
>no fun allowed
Nothing about Cucktino is seen as iconic.
>filler
kill yourself weeb
>guys this dance is crucial to the plot
>>67042415
your birth was filler
>>67042542
>white man attempts rhythm
why can white women dance but white men cannot?
Literally every single scene of Pulp Fiction is iconic.
>>67042596
white women are all taught by black men, haven't you ever watched movies
>>67042596
because dancing is for women and fags so white men avoid it
>>67042415
It was Travolta's rebirth.
Is it?
On a topic of greater substance I ask why is Pulp Fiction considered a cult classic despite its widespread popularity, even at the time of its release.
Nobody has given a good reason yet...
>Why is this movie considered iconic? I just see it as a filler
FTFY
>>67042415
It's not.
>>67042737
>cult classic
It's widely considered average movie "fans" to be the best movie of all time
>>67042415
my sentiments about literally every pop culture reference ever. it's always a "you had to be there" moment only perpetuated by people who were "there". words can't even explain how anti-climactic "you talking to me?" and "no, i am your father" felt after years and years of hearing parodies and references
>i just see it as filler
Why? It's building up their relationship. The driving suspense of Vincent's story is that he's uncomfortable taking his boss's wife out on a date. Here maybe the worst thing is happening: they're really hitting it off.
>>67042629
Most male dancers are white though so....oh no.
>>67043793
this exactly. what's it like being a moron OP?
Normal people would be laughing at themselves, having fun. These people genuinely want to win and give zero fucks about the eyes on them. I actually took this scene as illustrating the difference between these psychopaths and ordinary people more than the scene in the diner or when Vincent accidentally blows a dude's head off.
>>67043793
>>67043969
Their relationship was build by their dialogue; we can cut the dance scene and still understand the story
>>67042542
I never understood why people shit on that video
I mean, it looks dorky, but it's pretty obvious that it's just him staying high energy to help the cast, both in front of and behind the camera.
He's a spergy limp weiner, but I always kind of admired this clip, as uncoordinated as it is
>>67044209
I guess by that logic you could just read the synopsis online, avoid the movie altogether, and still "understand the story."
>>67044209
It's a really visceral scene that implies to the viewer that not only do they share a platonic bond (discussion), but also a more carnal one.
imagine being so fucking retarded that you can't understand the extremely simple point of that scene
what happened to this board? fuck off to r/movies. fuck off to the walking dead thread.
>>67042482
keep telling yourself that. Even his ripoffs are more iconic than their sources (yellow suit from Kill Bill).
>>67044259
>>67042542
Yeah, that's pretty admirable, when you stop to think about it for a second. With his own actions he's boosting the performance of his actors - it's a sign of a great film maker.
>>67044273
Is that all you got?
>>67044209
yeah movies should just be powerpoint slides with the plot synopsis written on them
fucktards
>>67044331
>>67044405
debunk this
>>67042415
Umm. you guys are all idiots, its just there because he loves feet! and he wanted a reason for his waifu to spend 2 or 3 days bare foot so he could get the shots and bonus footage so he can fap to it in his private screening room when ever he wants. He edited all the shots that weren't closeups on her feet to a dance scene so the actors and staff didn't get suspicious and conned it off as artistic to pretentious faggots like you guys
>>67042415
>filler
>Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction was an incredibly tightly written script. Everything in it serves a purpose. In terms of screenplays, it's up there with Chinatown, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Godfather.
Tarantino has never really recaptured his early form, but his more recent work (whatever you think of it), takes nothing away from Pulp Fiction which is a genuinely fantastic film.
because
sorry you are too retarded to understand
>>67044209
The dance is supposed to underpin Vincent's loyalty and respect for Marcellus in doing whatever Mia wants.
The dance itself is further evidence of their chemistry together.
>>67044452
I have a better scene, a college girl borrows a pencil to a guy, after that the teacher makes them a team, that made their relation more carnal
>>67042415
Tarantino's movies are all filler.
>>67044259
>>67044395
It's not boosting anything.
It's literally autism in motion.
Figures a bunch of fucking faggots on /tv/ wouldn't be able to recognize it.
Fucking dorks.
>>67045029
>ywn be so into creating something that you won't give a shit about what faggots like you think about how you're acting
>>67042415
Pulp Fiction is literally 100% filler. It just works.
Also goddamn once upon a time Travolta could dance like a motherfucker. When will based Tarantino un-just him for a second time?
>>67044395
Honestly I just admire that he's able to make a living out of filming his daydreams. This nigga has earned the right to be an autistic weirdo, since his films are by and large enjoyable and interesting.
why would you cast John Travolta and not have him dance?
>>67044209
Vince was kind of a nerd up to that point. Showing he could dance made Mia wet.
>>67045321
This
>>67045410
a villian who loves dancing but due to an injury now uses a cane
Admittedly it's a bit of a bother on repeat watching. I get it Quentin, Travolta is dancing and you're a massive nerd, no reason to shove it down my throat.
>>67042482
kek, that denial
>>67044454
>>67042542
what a fucking cutie
>>67042415
It's only "iconic" because travolta got famous for being a dancer in Saturday night fever and this was a hat tip to that.
>>67042415
It was meant to be iconic bt QT because Travolta up until that point was only famous for Saturday Night Fever, where he dances his ass all the way into american cultural consciousness. He was cast for this role deliberately for this scene, surrounded by american iconography one realizes he is one
His career was in the toilet before this movie and was saved by it
>>67042542
>dat subtle butt zoom
>>67042415
Because dance offs are a meme and Reddit likes them.
>>67044192
I think you're reading into it too much.
Also, you'll find no greater examples of psychopaths in fictional characters than you would IRL, movies don't accurately depict reality.
i cant imagine anyone else playing Vincents role.
>>67045799
why are we dismissing this theory so quickly?
also check'm
>>67042596
are you laughing, mate? White women are possibly worse than white men. Difference is they can sway slightly side to side and drop slowly to the floor to make people forget they're shit at dancing cause they're too busy wanting to fuck them.
>>67042415
The ending bit was better
