going to watch Late Spring now
>muh tight framing
>muh dearth of horizontal motion within frame
>muh front-back motion
>muh composition at the expense of continuity
>muh tatami

>kino
please just fucking shut up
somebody should break into Louis CK's apartment and steal his Woody Allen DVDs and replace them with Ozu DVDs
he needs to learn that you can make great art without sacrificing beingC O M F Y A S F U C K
everyone always points to late spring and tokyo story, but i think early summer is his best work.
floating weeds and tokyo twilight are outstanding too, and equinox flower is criminally underrated

I like Early Summer a lot too. Noriko actually makes her own choice to marry who she marries in that one.
I haven't seen seen one of his films I haven't liked though.
>muh mono no aware

Rape, date, marry
I've only seen Late Spring, but I really liked it.
Rare example of a film which is both comfy and patrician.
Ozu kino is all comfy
>17 films lost
Great, now all I can think about is how all films will be lost one day along with everything

Like tears in rain...
Can someone post that Japanese directors chart?
