I disagree, throughout the finale he makes several positive interactions with people, more than the entire seasons previous downward spiral. He makes some reconciliation with Junior and Janice, sets AJ up with a job, ends the NY war, and arranges for the whole family to go out together. Of course he makes this effort to be a better person on the day he is killed

The whole cut to black doesnt necessarily mean he's dead just that it's over for us and the final scene we saw was Tony enjoying a good moment with his family. Like I said he probably got killed sometime later and the last scene was to indicate that despite death coming always look back on the good times and don't stop believing
