It wasn't just Hank being an autist, it's a silly Americana cultural thing. My grandfather has also talked at length about how he went to the same barbers for like 40 years, the barbers were two brothers, but had to change recently because one of the brothers is doing other work and the the other one is getting dementia.
I would be completely okay with an episode that pokes fun around the relationship between a man and his barber in black culture if it wasn't too over-the-top with caricatures and shit.

That's part of where a relationship develops because getting a haircut becomes a routine thing. And as an adult male, you don't really try anything new ever, so there's a weird bond that develops when you come in every two to three weeks to see a guy, he knows exactly how you want your hair done so you don't even have to say, and then there's twenty to thirty minutes of measured conversation.
It's such a weird relationship that I don't think exists in another aspect of life.
