The plot was good, but the UFO shit, the 2deep4u segment fillers (the WW1 film, the indian reenactment at the beginning, the blabbing about being a king), the "muh innocent injun man who is justifed being a psychotic murderer becauae some meanie called him a bad word :'(((", the plot holes (why were the bodies not removed from the crime scene, how could they hold a glass of scalding water, why did Ed cut off the fingers before putting it in the grinder, etc.), and the edgy and unrealistic "DUDE ALL THE BAD GUYS GOT OUT SCOT FREE LMAO" ending really soured it for me.

Oh yeah, also the fact that auxiliary characters are killed in an instant, while the main characters seem to have some force field preventing bullets from hitting them (provided people actually shoot at them, instead of waiting until they walk around a corner to start shooting). For a show that is meant to be about organic and brutal violence, it's cliche bullshit that shouldn't be there. Main characters deaths be treated just as auxiliary characters and should come fast, visceral, and unexpected, not long, drawn out, le ebin slow motion with dramatic music playing.

No one in the show claimed the Indian was a good guy, in fact he ends up being the final villainous force in the story. The backstory as to the reason he snapped is meant to fix in with the absurdest theme of the entire season (much like Camus's the Stranger features a character snapping and turning to murder for similarly absurd reasons) and the UFO is related to the absurdity nature as well.

First 2 ep's were great, 3 was good. 4 is where falls off a cliff. The director of that ep was Jeremy Podeswa and it seemed like he had no idea of the tone of the show. It opens with a completely flat shot and the shootout felt csi tier devoid of tension and realism the complet oppisti of s01ep04. I still liked the latter half though. I understand and even like the message Pizzolatto was trying to convoy having all the men die even though personally i hated it for its incredible pessimism.
