What are your thoughts on American Beauty?
>>
>>66589055
5/10
>>
Perfect film.
>>
Genuinely one of my top 10 favorite films. Kevin Spacey and Annette Benning are both great in it even if the teenage characters are kind of cringey.
>>
perfect fap
>>
8/10
>>
Very quotable and god tier score
>>
>>66589055
it's shit
>>
>>66589055
i saw this twice in the theaters, i was certain it was the greatest movie of all time when it came out. Looking back I was probably just an edgy stoned teenager. still a good film though
>>
>>66589055

>american beauty
>only Mena Suvari is beautiful

5/10

Love this scene
>>
>>66589055
it's good if you're 16
>>
The part with the grocery bag is retarded as fuck.

The rest is great though, especially Spacey.

> le tries too hard man
>>
>>66589357
It's good if you're not 19 and you were only 2 years old when it came out.
>>
I like the tits
>>
>>66589627
the tits are the best parts
>>
It was secretly the funniest movie of the year.
>>
Reminder that Thora Birch was 16 during the movie. So it's basically CP.
>>
>>66589055
american beauty is one of the best films every made. no matter what anyone on here says about it.

especailly if you were an adult in the 90's. i remember when i watched it with my gf in the theater i literally pulled over on the beach on the way home and just watched the ocean for about 30 minutes.

the casting was great. the sequence was great. the dialogue was great. but most of all the cinemetography was perfect. and that is what makes a movie. the pictures.

american beauty is one of the greatest movies ever made no matter what all the haters on tv say. and magnolia was also a great movie that only lost every single category to a very close second place to amercian beauty that year.
>>
Too lazy to embed 'cinema sins' on utoob. DO IT!!
>>
>>66589749
It's not CP if it's art....

...mostly

Name your 5 favorite German New Wave filmmakers
>>
I liked it.
>>
>>66589865
i could, but why should i? why should your knowledge of my knowledge of things that don't matter have to do with what i think of what does matter?

first of all it is an american movie. did you attend an american high school? do you even understand the signifigance of the opening dance scene?

the opening dance scene is supposed to show how she wants to fit in but doesn't. because dance groups are second to football games. and she even still fucks it up. but she is gorgeous. then her dad ignores her even though she was gorgeous and did great, only to focus on an ideal.

of the 5 best german 'films' i have ever seen, 3 were pornos
>>
>>66589770

I watched a plastic bag floating in the wind after watching the movie. I was moved to tears how sublime it was.
>>
>>66590031
you're probably making fun of it because most children here make fun of the floating bag scene.

but i stand by it. it is not a top cinematic scene, but it has meaning and is art. as a tying together scene it was lacking, but i understood what it meant and still felt it.

i will admit the bag scene was the worst of the feeling scenes though. even the nazi parents couch scene was better. the closet scene still fucking kills me.

forgot to add that I jacked off to Mena Suvari's tits after crying. good times

What the fuck? Who cares about literally any of these "move sins"? This guy is fucking autistic and can't simply WATCH A MOVIE. I am OFFICIALLY triggered. American Beauty was amazing.
>HURR DURR, WHY THE EMO GIRL CHEERLEADER
Because her character has depth? Does anyone take this guy seriously? In a movie like Primer or Inception these "everything wrong" videos word, but not American Beauty.
>this just happens to be when blah blah blah happens, what a COINCIDENCE! NOT OKAY!
Guess what, it's a movie.

probably the same faggots that think that skylar was a bad wife...

>it can be shit because it's just a movie
Your post pretty much shows how much you don't understand movies. Back to plebbit with you.

The whole "you like Pink Floyd?" scene has got to be some of the dumbest shit in all of cinema.
>>
>>66589055
Masterpiece. 10/10
>>
>>66590801
>it can be shit
I'm saying those factors don't make it shit. I'm biased towards Kevin Spacey though, and I felt the movie was very cohesive.
>>
>>66590903
That line was realistic. Older people recognize Pink Floyd as rock stars of their time, and don't realize they're still super popular.
>>
The cultural finale to the 20th century America.

Showed the attitudes and emotions of us before 9/11

Race, terrorism, war none of that mattered at that point. Our lives seemed meaningless without an enemy to fight, or invading cultures to worry about.

>>66589988
weak b8 m8 cant r8 8/8
>>
>>66589862
Thanks anon. This movie is such a cringefest. Even if you dont agree with all of cinema sins observations, its still a fucking awful movie. The acting is fine for the most part, its the story thats bad.

Think i was 14/15 when i saw this... god it was boring.
Saw it again a few years ago... still boring, and pretentious. Worthy of some indy snore fest where all other films are sepia.

not for kevin spacey
cause he likes men's assholes

Fucking adore Kevin Spacey the way that he changes from complete calm to a fucking maniac in one second and then calm again. Im glad that House of Cards is doing so well.
>>
The atmosphere and music alone are super comfy
>>
>>66589326
young thora birch was cute af though and suvari looked like my foot
>>
>>66589107
Agreed. It's absolutely a fantastic film, even though some people criticise it for the stupid shit the characters say in it for whatever reason.
>>
>>66598618
>young thora birch was cute
>was

Ahh, don't remind me. Holy shit I hope Alison Bree doesn’t end up like that.
>>
>>66589749
This makes anyone who criticises anime for underage tits a fucking hypocrite.

BRB, watching Romeo and Juliet.
>>
>>66590801
What about what he says isn't correct? You do realise how much classic lit is based around crazy coincidences?
>>
>>66591427
That's pretty much true.
>>
>>66589339
Nice. You convinced me this is a good movie.
Been a long time since i last saw it.

Kevin Spacey is still one of the best actors.

Perfectly encapsulated suburban life in the 90s and the mindset / frustrations of gen X in general
>>

I thought of something smart to comment on the last scene of the movie last night in my dream but forgot it when I woke up

Something to do with being content or something.

I feel sorry for people back then. Post 9/11 is greate
