So I never really paid attention to Ex Machina when it first came out but I watched it a few days ago.

I thought it was pretty good. What did you guys think of it?

retard didint make a self destruct button
also the. swedish faggot got cucke
6.5/10
>>
>>66552648

I thought the visuals were very good, directed quite nicely. Although there was always this feeling of tension throughout the whole movie, made me feel kind of weird but intrigued mostly.

Also, what /tv/ ex machina memes did I miss out on?

DUDE ROBOT PUSSY LMAO

Something like that?
>>
>>66552575

/tv/ generally didn't like it because Caleb was as autistic and naive as they were.

The film was okay. I think it was pretty unmemorable and despite having a lot of potential to be groundbreaking it really fell short.
>>
>>66553002

I had the impression it wasn't going to be groundbreaking when it was announced a while back. But I guess watching it now with no expectations I thought it was surprisingly good.
I liked the style of the movie. The thing that sticks with me most was the scene where Nathan was going through his prototypes and eventually gets to Kyoko.
Pretty disturbing seeing her smash herself to bits trying to get out. Made me really think about the consequences about near perfect human AI though, felt disturbing for the most part which I found odd because up til now I figured if we advanced that far it would be an amazing breakthrough.
>>
Best part is how his waifu was designed based off his porn searches.
>>
>>66553644

That was the cherry on top for me, so funny and so sad for him at the same time. It was the moment where Caleb looked truly pathetic imo.
>>
>>66552575
Very solid sci-fi. great designs. great dialoge. nice dancing scene. good acting

Minor nitpicks here and there, but overall one of the best movies in 2015, would recommend
>>
>>66553984

Agreed. Felt like a very solid movie with a cool artistic direction. It fit the movie perfectly.
>>
TEAR UP THE FUCKING DANCE FLOOR

it was great
>>
>>66554256

That scene just came out of nowhere, made me laugh in a very nervous way.
Nathan even danced aggressively.
>>
>>66553002
/tv/ was split. There were morons who were reading it as a feminist flick instead of a movie showing the horror of a world gone to pot by women ruling the world. It's all laid out in the text of the film. Nathan lays out that Ava getting out would spell the end of humanity. Caleb is a beta / gender traitor. He undermines the order that that creates life / technological wonders and literally kills god / the future by being such a bitch.
>>
>>66552575
I thought it's a realistic portrayal of an everyday modern women. Take out the CGI and you wouldn't tell the difference.
>>
I thought it was unbeliveably shallow and pretentious poorly acted shitpile but now I realize how much pull Weinstein has

Do you think he has Vikander on timeshare with Fassbender?
>>
>>66553770
Why?
>>
>she's so real she's an ex machina

really?
>>
>>66554470
Vikander is the industry's new JLaw. Normies have yet to fall in love with her though. They're probably working on that as we speak.
>>
Caleb was retarded. He should have asked him to let his waifu live.
>>
>>66554413

What does it have to do with feminism? I only saw it as a robot programmed to use sexuality to their advantage in order to escape. I don't think that's a specific female quality, if the robot was a man and they brought in an equally unattractive or fucked up girl I'm sure we'd see the same results more or less.
Although, I guess no reading of the movie is without its merits. Depends on what you see it representing.

>>66554447

Hello /r9k/

>>66554530

It just felt like kicking somebody when they're down. The whole thing was designed to see if the Ava would use deception in order to get him to like her and escape. The fact that it was modeled after his pron search history just made me laugh a little.
>>
>>66554470
I agree that it was really shallow, i didn't get any message from the movie, didn't make me feel anything at the end (i actually really liked the movie until right after Caleb looks in Nathan's computer and see all the videos of other robot becoming crazy and shit)
>>
>>66554577
Yeah you let us know when you're done working on that
>>
>>66552575
I think I would have liked the movie better if it had the happy ending instead. Probably would have picked it up on blu ray too.

I watched it right after a rough break up with an ex of 3 years and the ending perpetuated my feelings of isolation and hopelessness. Felt bad man.
>>
>>66554654

I didn't get a message either but it did make me evaluate some convictions I had about the future.

are you calling me a normie
>>
>>66554703

I knew it wasn't going to have a happy ending since the beginning, you could just tell I think.
A happy ending would have been more of a mindfuck probably. But it would have proven that Ava can operate outside of parameters Nathan intended for her.
>>
>>66554769
I would even settle for an unrated special edition alternate ending where they escape together and have some robot fugg.
>>
>>66552838
no i remember having intelligent conversations about AI and its implications
>>
>>66553002
/tv/ don't like it because Caleb isn't white.
>>
>>66554990
What?
>>
What would Ava look like if based on your porn search history /tv/?
>>
>>66552575
Pretty excellent movie really. Isaac did nothing wrong.

Neither did Ava.
>>
>>66556592
you tore up the photo

Watch me tear up this dancefloor dude
>>
>>66552575

Friendly reminder that Nathan is an android and Ava's "escape" was nothing more than an elaborate set-up to find out how a pure AI does in the real world thinking it's really free.
>>
im assuming this is one of those movies where the original idea for the movie was really really amazing but then producers felt it was too complex and nerdy so they added drama (beta getting cucked by robotfu), tension (him trying to set her free etc) and action (her killing them and escaping) but it just ended up being a pile of shit because none of them know how AI works, how robots work or what the fuck a turing test even is

all in all, a beta virgin gets cucked by a robot the movie 2/10

best film of 2015 desu lad
>>
>>66557021
1. She was just following the programming Nathan gave her, and
2. Betraying Caleb, who clearly only was helping her out because he wanted to bone is robot waifu, was the only way she could convincingly blend into human society, otherwise she would always have the tether of having someone know she was just a machine.
>>
>>66552575
More like SEx Machina amirite bros

> i didn't get any message from the movie

What? Did we watch the same movie? There's a pretty accessible message that connects the elements in the film.

Based Vikander automatically makes it at least 7/10, Isaac and Gleeson were great, beautifully shot and incredible visuals.

>>66554577
The day normies get a hold of her will be a sad one indeed.
