Ali g was the best. i think at the time it seemed like no one had done that kind of messing with audience thing for a few years and people seemed genuinely fooled for the most part. With later characters people were getting wise to the bit and they would play along but they had an idea what was going on. For some reason that time and that character really seemed believable to the people he was mocking.
