Why didn't it beat Avatar?

Why didn't it beat Titanic?
>>
Because Avatar is studio-produced lowest common denominator dreck, made to appeal to literally everyone and anyone. It's The Big Bang Theory of film.

The Force Unleashed is forgettable mainstream shlock, but is slightly more ambitious in targeted certain segments of the population over others, making it a slightly more divisive and controversial movie.
>>
It beat them where it counts: in America. Literally nobody cares about foreign shits.
>>
Because it's one movie in a series of at least 4 movies and it just came out a few months ago whereas both other movies have been out for combined decades

You do realize that a movie's run only lasts a few months, right?
>>
Because Avatar revived the 3D gimmick.
>>
>>66464356
Run, yes. But face it, the numbers are from a longer period of time, and I guarantee vhs sales of tfa will increase 10-fold with swviii
>>
>>66464244
people who decide if a movie was good based on how money it made are wrong.
>>
>>66464244
its stuck in an old concept and didnt bring anything new
at least star trek revamped everything and made it fresh
>>
>>66464293
>dreck

Haven't heard that word used since the age of Shrek memes. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, anon.

well hello there...
>>
>>66464323
Foreigners might.
>>
>>66464437
Literally nobody in the world except for, fuck I dunno, Eskimos or some shit, has not seen Star Wars
>>
>>66464244
because it was a bad film, if it was even slightly inovative, had a slightly good story or even some interesting characters it would have beaten Avatar easily, but what that mediocre TV series for 15 year old produced was a bad film. its simple.
>>
>>66464621
>if it was even slightly inovative, had a slightly good story or even some interesting characters it would have beaten Avatar easily

Kek'd hard

The fact that it was derivative, nostalgia-pandering bullshit was what propelled it to $2b in the first place.
>>
>>66464621
>innovative
>good story
>interesting characters
>implying any of these qualify with Avatar

There's a reason Avatar made literally no impact on pop culture. It was forgettable, flavor of the month shlock for brainless casuals. Avatar 2 will flop. Screencap this.

>he's mad that his precious manchild franchise couldn't beat based jim yet again
>>
>>66464645
the 2bln mark would be achieved either way due to the fact that it is the biggest movie franchise in the world. It is a disgrace that it did not beat Titanic.
>>

>the 2bln mark would be achieved either way due to the fact that it is the biggest movie franchise in the world.

kek'd again

I guess it'll be a shock to you when episode 8 barely makes $1.6b
>>
>>66464808
just imagine what avatra could have achieved if it had the legacy of star wars...now go watch that mary sue flick for the 10th time you overweight manchild.
>>
>>66464851
Kid, don't fool yourself. Avatar is on par with capeshit.
>>
>>66464896
No because episode 8 cannot do anything to get rid of the kike director forcing an agenda, the mary sue foetal alchohol syndrome main lead, the black jar jar binks and an emo kid as the ultimate evil.
>>
>>66464938
Is JJ directing 8?
>>
>>66464898
>just imagine what avatra could have achieved if it had the legacy of star wars

It had every opportunity to build that kind of legacy. Highest grossing movie of all time, numerous Oscar nominations. And yet, even the general audience knew it was forgettable trash once the 3D hype died down.
>>
>>66464957
The guy who directed Looper and some BrB episode is directing it, Rian Johnson
>>
>>66464938
>episode 1 comes out
>doesn't beat titanic
>b-but it's a bad movie! A good star wars movie would easily beat titanic!
>episode 7 comes out
>critically successful; audiences love it
>b-but it's a bad movie! A good star wars movie would easily beat avatar!

When will you just admit to yourself that star wars will never be as successful as movies directed by James Cameron?
>>
Because it's worthless piece of shit movie without originality, that's why. Cashgrabbing cancer
>>
>>66464980
>doesn't beat Avatar

should be in there somewhere
>>
>>66465013
Which one? Titanic, Avatar or Star Wars?

No, he's not, retard. Rian Johnson is writing and directing.

What are you implying?
>>
>>66464244

IT. IS. SHIT. M8
>>
>>66464244
Avatar had the 3D behind it and was widely appealing, especially in Asia.

TFA beat Titanic's original release (even though it was in theaters for like a year when it came out) but lost against its re-release.
>>
>>66465401
>TFA beat Titanic's original release
>implying this is impressive or notable
>>
>>66465448
Yeah, if you're comparing a movie released once to one that's been released twice.
>>
>>66465483
If you're comparing a movie that was released in 1997 when ticket price were an average of $4.50, to a movie released in 2015 whose average ticket price is around $10 due to inflation and hugely-inflated 3D/IMAX ticket prices. Not to mention the huge expansion of many overseas markets like China, Russia, Brazil, South Korea etc. since 1997.
