The whole point of the battle of morannon was the bait sauron into emptying out every orc in mordor.

At that point he assumed that Aragorn had the ring, and was coming to wreck his shit. He was afraid because Aragorn had a strong enough will to make the ring his own (it would still corrupt him, but he wouldn't be sauron's direct tool).

As far as sauron knew, every single thing that would assure his victory was standing in front of his gates with a pitiful force. He wanted to smash that shit.

There's a continent analogous to asia beyond the borders of that map, and it's all controlled by Sauron.

Before Denethor kills himself he tells Gandalf that the army that is currently pushing their shit in is "but a finger on the hand of a larger army" or something to that effect.

The only hope for middle earth was to destroy the ring and end it, any other course of action was certain victory for sauron, with or without him recovering his ring.

Glorfindel suggests chucking the Ring into the sea, but then the Council says there are probably Nameless Unknowanle horrors before Saurons time still dwelling in the deep. Ala Shelob, she's the spawn of such monsters outside Sauron's sphere of influence.

IMO they should've done this.

There had to have been some way to cross through the mountains behind Gondor, coming from Enedwaith. Every other mountain range had some way through, and Gondor wasn't even being threatened from the North.

Also, is there a mountain pass from behind Minas Tirith to the interior of Gondor? Because if so, I didn't account for it here.

you need a middle earth history lesson, senpai.

Sauron is the creation of Morgoth. Morgoth is a Valar. The Valar are each an embodiment of Eru the creator's traits. Morgoth is arrogance. Sauron is the creation of the pure imbodiment of arrogance and malice.

>>65131363

Because the gods that aided creation lived there.

Also, there was no night or day originally, there were two lamps. One in the north, one in the south. Melkor smashed them ending the age of the lamps, which then prompted Yavanna to create the two trees. Each tree had its own cycle, blooming, and then wilting, and then blooming again. As one dimmed the other was brightening, so there was no night and day as we know it.

After Ungoliant ate the trees, and Feanor refused to let them use the light from his silmarils, they made the sun and the moon.

The Silmaril isn't essentially an object with a will of its own, nor is it actively sending out what amount to psychic beams to Sauron in order to be found.

Sauron also isn't looking for a Silmaril but he is looking for the Ring. And, without its destruction, he's gonna live forever. The second he hears a rumour about the direction the Ring was dumped or lost, he'll be trawling that ocean for it with sea-beasts he bred for just that purpose. Time is on Sauron's side. On a long enough time scale, he'll get it.

Worth noting that Tom's powers are limited to the borders of his land.

And he's the one who decides where those borders are.

But the very thing that makes him what he is also makes him unsuitable for aid beyond his land.

They would be corrupted by the ring.

The rings power is relative to your standing. To a Maiar like Gandalf or Sauron it gives UNLIMITTEED POOOWWWAAAHHHH, which is why Gandalf could hardly look at the fucking thing.

For a Hobbit, the literal whos of Middle Earth, all it did was make you invisible. It didn't really draw them in much, because Hobbits don't want much. But even by the end of the journey Frodo was turning into Sheev.

Eagles are very powerful and ancient beings. We don't know what the ring would do for them, but we know its power would be irresistible.
