so apparently Avery knew Teresa Halbach, he also left messages on her phone as well as mysterious deleted messages on her phone from who knows, she had also stated that he made her uncomfortable not sure how relevant that is but yeah
So for a 3rd party to kill her they would have had to corner her before or during when she went to Avery's junkyard, kill her and burn the body giving enough time for complete incineration and that would be a day or 2 and she was reported missing when Avery was expecting her at the compound supposedly so that fits the narrative, if it was a cop I guess they could have pulled her over and done it too, it seems like she died an execution style death.
They would have put the bones in a bag drove her car to the compound when they knew no one would be around for sure and scattered the bone fragments in a loose pile in the burn pit and then walk off the property?
The rest would be in the cop's hands to screw with the case, seems pretty fool proof to me other than actually driving onto the property with a missing car.
I suppose you could plant the car before the body was done burning ahead of time. There are definitely a lot of logic holes with the car on the property not being disposed of but rather hidden in plain view.

However, none of it was done on his property. The cops did plant evidence, but that was to aid the actual case and make sure of a conviction.
Bobby Dassy was "going hunting" at the same time. He was real pissed at Steven by the end of the whole case.
Steven fiddled with her car when she arrived, which is why his hand sweat was found under the hood.
When she left, her car broke down the highway. He tailed her there, ambushed her and took her off into the woods and raped her. This was done where Bobby would be meeting him for hunting. Bobby was unaware she was there, Steven took Bobby's gun and shot her and tried to cover this up, so that it could be pinned on Bobby. Steven fucked this up, Bobby got mad, Bobby said they're not leaving her there with his gun's evidence in her so they burned her there at the pit.
Bobby made a deal with the cops and told them what happened to clear his name and to also fuck Steven. They knew where to look for the car and the ashes thanks to Bobby, during the investigation they planted all this stuff on his property.
Steven did it, he's a sick fuck and Bobby got Brendan to make the story up unbeknownst to his mother to aid in the case. Bobby just didn't think his idiot son would go to jail over it and was another major reason why he was pissed at the end of the case.
