i just watched it, 9/10 first half 4/10 second. The movie detonated itself as soon as he finds his indian buddy hanging from a tree. The whole sequence of stealing the horse, freeing the woman, getting attacked by indians, falling off the cliff, and then playing buddy-cop with the ginger general ruined the entire presentation of the movie.
It almost felt like they switched scripts at that halfway point, or that these scenes stayed in the final cut simply because they wanted to present these set-pieces.
