You can't attribute her win totally to her but some of the 'development points' have to go to Kylo too.

Who spends all three movies being mistrusted by the Jedi, chafing under Obi-Wan's tutelage. The only way Han and Leia make sense is if she's Luke's daughter, which is pretty much a given at this point.
