I can see the fun for a kid of watching someone else playing a game you don't own because it saves you asking your parents to buy it for you or even a new console and maybe they're better at playing it than you so they progress faster and it's kind of like you're hanging out with a friend listening to them talk about the game.
But what the fuck is the point of these unboxing toy videos other than like for adults to see if it's suitable to give to their kids or whatever?
What's the point of watching someone else unpack something that the only fun of it is you physically owning it and fiddling about with it in your own hands?
Or are these kids growing up on iPads and phones and shit so early that they are entirely visually based and watching someone else enjoying a toy might as well be real to them and they dont even bother to physically interact with toys anymore?

I don't know your niece's age but it's a real common thing amongst little kids. My daughter used to watch Nemo 3-4 times in a row every day for weeks unti she get bored and got a new DVD to get obsessed with (wich was How To Train Your Dragon). Every kid in her kindergarten had its own movie that watch constantly, my mother told me that I did the same with audio-fairy tales.
