10CL was in production since 2014, wrapped up sometime in 2015 after (allegedly) incorporating the Cloverfield connection.
It's plausible this was early ARG prep or just a neat easter egg. If they did plan it that way it would be really cool anyway.

As someone who only kind of gives a shit about this stuff I'm curious as to how often the information parsed out through these viral ad campaigns for movies ends up actually being credible or to what extent it ends up having to do with the plot whatsoever.
Everytime stuff like this comes out (eg the dark knight, lost, or the hidden messages before commercials on fringe) it always sounds interesting, but I never have the energy to actually follow up on them. Basically I'm wondering if anybody knows based on JJ's previous viral marketing campaigns if there's any point to paying attention to this at all.

ARGs aren't cost effective and studios usually don't bother making them interesting. Cloverfield was barely an ARG. It was just hidden sites, lots of lore and a Slusho competition where people won some swag.
