JJ actually did things a bit subtly, which I think is why a lot of people are saying things don't make sense in this movie. In the next scene we learn Chewie went to grieve alone. Han had told Leia about Rey, so it wasn't like Leia wasn't at least aware of who she was. Without even going to all the trouble of putting forth that Han told Leia he thinks she's Luke's kid or any of that, Leia is just being human.
Rey is very alone walking off the Falcon. Everyone is celebrating, but Chewie fucked off, Han is dead, and Finn is unconscious. They even have a shot of her looking around, holding in emotions. That's why Leia walks up and hugs her. Sure the force probably let Leia know her feelings, but also basic human empathy tells you this girl has seen some shit and now she's alone. Sometimes you just need a hug.

I can nitpick the originals, and I have.
The thing with TFA that makes it 'good' was that it's visuals and sounds were everything an updated star wars movie should be like. It had some cool action scenes and a pretty decent score.
What made it a bad movie was that in between all the action, nothing really happens. The movie starts off with telling us that everyone is trying to find luke. Then it just turns into a rehash of episode 4 with as many references to the OT crammed down our throats as possible.

I don't know how reasonable it is, but I like to bring up that maybe after Ren went dark, all Luke's students died, and Rey went missing that Luke didn't trust himself not to fall to the dark side bringing Kylo in. This will be why he doesn't get involved while teaching Rey. That way he doesn't have to die to be kept form solving the plot. You even get the message that even the greatest jedi can still be tempted by the dark side.
