This shouldn't be that big of a deal. The Cryptkeeper wasn't even the presenter for most of the comic series, the Old Witch was (I think).
The problem is that TNT is probably going to try to turn this show into a rip-off of American Horror Story. Which means it's going to end up being a bad version of an already shit show.

I liked the first season, but subsequent seasons have been "the world's edgiest soap opera."
The whole show works on characters having "dark, secret pasts" and milking that secret for as long as they possibly can. American Horror Story is too cowardly to kill off important characters, or even worse, in the third season they would kill off a character and bring them back in the very next episode, so suddenly it was like nothing that happened mattered. It's just shit LOST-tier writing.
I like horror hosts and maybe it's better to do something new than try the Cryptkeeper again.

Ryan Murphy is a terrible writer who can't figure out how to write a coherent narrative. His method for creating a TV series, even a short one, seems to be just introducing plot lines to try to keep things interesting, and then abandoning them when he realizes he has no way to resolve them. Everything I've watched of his followed that formula and I just stopped watching his stuff because I realized he's a hack that can't write.
Horror fans in general probably don't like the show because it doesn't focus on horror very much. It's mostly teen drama-type stuff placed in a vaguely horror-themed setting, and with lots of campiness.

I did see the second season, and that was terrible for entirely different reasons. Season two sucked because they had 20 different subplots going on at any time. That season lacked focus, and it showed by the final episode when they didn't explain the aliens and they didn't explain the zombies. A lot like LOST, they just kept throwing in more and more shit with no hope of any of it ever making sense in the end.
