>Anakin Skywalker: You are so... beautiful.
>Padmé: It's only because I'm so in love.
>Anakin Skywalker: No, it's because I'm so in love with you.
>Padmé: So love has blinded you?
>Anakin Skywalker: [laughs] Well, that's not exactly what I meant . . .
>Padmé: But it's probably true.
>They laugh.
>Anakin Skywalker: I haven't laughed in so long . . .
>Padmé: Neither have I.
Christian Hayden gets a lot of hate, but could anyone honestly delivery this kind of shit dialogue in front of a bluescreen?
>>
padmé was cgi all along?
>>
A shit script is the number one flaw in most bad movies. The scripts in the original Star Wars weren't better, by the way.

Well, he isn't wrong.

GOAT dialogue, how he didnt get nominated for screenplay is beyond me.

actors are given way too much credit good or bad. Everyone the public considers to be a good actor is primarily because they selected good roles

He had one job.

Make us believe he wanted to fuck teenage Natalie Portman.

And he somehow fucked this up.
>>
>>64706156
That wasn't in the script dipshit
>>
>>64706037
The OT and the PT both have that weird Lucas DNA that makes some of the dialogues bizarre and autistic (that is, if you think about them, you realize there's a logic to them but it's completely alien to normal behavior). But the difference in quality is enormous.
>>
>>64706156
You mean that scene that came after we saw those two characters grow closer together within the actions of two movies and wasn't just told about it sitting on a green screen couch?
>>
>>64706156
Wasn't in the script and yes, that is good writing.
>>
>>64705956
literally porn-tier dialogue
>>
> go to the opera
> main character starts singing about how she is forlorn
> she continues to sing about the man she is in love with, while he is standing right there, pretending not to hear her
> the man faces the audience and asks rhetorically "what shall i do? To love is a burden! Hark! For I am-"
> stand up

That line is iconic for a reason. Hint: the answer was already mentioned before!

I know it's bait but there will be some that agree with you.
>>
>>64706471
agreed.
>>
>>64706026
If you dont see actors on screen at the same time, they probably arent both there in the same scene
>>
>>64706378
People conflate Star Wars with realism all the time. It's just their autism flaring, I believe.
>>
>>64706471
this, dunno why you greentexted though
>>
>>64706477
The prequels are not films in the conventional sense
>>

kek
>>
>>64706471
i couldn't have said it better myself. The musical scores and plot of the OT are indeed beautiful enough to make up for shitty dialogue.
>>
>>64706156
>EVERYONE SAYS THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SCENE AND I DON'T FUCKING UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ALL HAVE SUCH SHIT TASTE, IT'S SHITTY WRITING RRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Pretty fucking obvious

>>

And this is a fantasy film in the vein of a space opera. This isn't Star Trek.
>>
>>64706070
Is this good dialog, to you:

Han Solo: Well, Your Worship, it looks like you managed to keep me here a while longer.
Princess Leia Organa: [Haughtily] I had nothing to do with it. General Rieekan thinks it's dangerous for any ships to leave the system until they've activated the energy shield.
Han Solo: That's a good story. I just think you can't bear to let a gorgeous guy like me out of your sight.
Princess Leia Organa: I don't know where you get your delusions, laser brain.
[Chewbacca laughs amusingly]
Han Solo: Laugh it up, fuzzball! [To Luke] You didn't see us alone in the south passage. She expressed her true feelings for me.
Princess Leia Organa: What? [annoyed] Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking... nerf-herder!
Han Solo: [in mock offense] Who's scruffy looking? [To Luke] Must have hit it pretty close to the mark to get her all riled up like that, huh, kid?
Princess Leia Organa: Well, I guess you don't know everything about women yet. [suddenly kisses Luke in front of Han]

Kill yourselves, you autistic chucklefucks.
>>
>>64706634
>I think I'm in love with you Han
>Sorry Leia but I have an important job to do, I feel the same way but it would be unprofessional of me to make any commitments right now
>>
>>64706899
> Han Solo, being within close vicinity of you creates an increased production of hormones and endorphins.
> I understand these feelings, and mildly reciprocate.
>>
>>64706804
Infinitely better, yes.

It's expository, each character has unique and visible personality, and we see the main cast grow closer together all in one scene. That's objectively good dialogue.
>>
>>64706378
the problem with the dialogue in OT is not that it's "unrealistic". it's retarded and clunky.
>>64706804
yeah, that's good
>>
> Anakin: From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when i haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again, I am in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it get. The thought of not being with you; i can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me. What can I do? I will do anything that you ask... If you are suffering as much as I am, please tell me...

Come on... that's pretty good writing. Anguish, fear, love, all rolled into one small speech.
>>
>>64707308
Much better, but still utter shit when you consider how little we care about them.

We're never shown why they love each other, we're just told it. Their relationship makes no sense, and all we see them do together is Anakin bitch about the other women in his office. Both of them are incredibly incompetent and unlikable, and the romance 'plot' between them handled almost everything wrong.
>>
>>64707492
Does Romeo and Juliet make sense?
>>
>>64707675
But the intention of that was never that they were truly in love, was it?
It was just that they were young people who became infatuated with each other despite barely having known each other.
Its a tragedy

>>64707308
If it wasn't a speech, it would be less awkward. People don't talk like that, even in over the top space operas
>>
>>64707877
> Anakin and Padme not a tragedy

My fucking god did you miss the point of ROTS...hell the prequels.
>>
>>64707917
Its a "tragedy", but they're clearly supposed to be actually in love.
>>
>>64707957
So you're telling me Romeo & Juliet have a different dynamic going on? How so? Maybe you can dissect their story and quickly realize their love wasn't genuine and they were just prisoners of the moment, but I think it's quite obvious that Lucas was going for this style of romance. The fans miss the point, because they don't see the obvious stylistic intent.
>>
>>64708245
I'm almost sad I'll never love a movie so much to delude myself like this.
>>
all star wars movies are poorly written trash
>>
>>64708509
Yeah, also known as pulp.
