anyone seen this? thoughts?

Fun little history lesson.
>>
>>64702055
It's my choice for Best Picture after The Revanent. I just hope Spotlight or Carol don't win. Christian Bale's best perofrmance since he played a crackhead in The Fighter.
>>
Worth watching for steve carell REEEEEEEEE'ing the scenery
>>
>>64702140
>He actually said that. He actually got up, took that call, and now you see what I had to deal with.

Hyperkek at that line. Also where the chink is explaining how the CDOs were actually getting shittier, that was fantastic.
>>
>>64702055
A lot better than I thought it might be. The Goose's narration was a little too patronizing at times.
7.5/10
>>
It was like a less entertaining wolf of wall street

I appreciate the choice to include all of the incomprehensible wall street jargon but then there was the trite 3 minute celebrity cameos that tried and failed to explain it
>>
A bit preachy (that line of dialog when they enter the empty bank offices at the end) but endearing characters and pleasing to watch with some fun moments.

I bet tv hates it because it's normie meme flick somehow.
>>
>>64702055
pree good except the big name actors, more specifically gosling, didn't really feel authentic for their roles
>>
the movie im rooting for at the oscars.
>>
Am I the only one that feel like they try to talk down to the audience the entire time?

I mean, the concepts they explain aren't very difficult, but the movie spends a great deal of effort patting itself on the back for how "clever" their SMASH/CUT "here's a naked chick in a tub to explain to you cause you're not smart enough to get it"

WTF? Get over yourself.
>>
>>64702258
that was one of my favorite scenes and I also loved the one where Carrell goes to his boss' office and everyone on the floor is crying silently.

Shit I wish I could have been there to watch it all go down. Must have been awe-inducing. Are there any articles or documentaries that vivldy go into the last days at the Lehman Brothers offices, Worldcom, etc?

*RECORD SCRATCH*

That's me. You might be wondering how I got here. We'll get back to that. But first here's Margot Robbie in a bubble bath explaining how the stock market works...

D R O P P E D
>>
>>64702443
>that jenga explanation

why would he have to explain it like a high school teacher to steve carrell and his crew?
>>
Really liked it, OP. Probably my favorite after Sicario.

>>64702443
I agree, it should've been Goose in a bubble bath explaining how the stock market worked.
>>
>>64702519
Goose was patronizing them, kind of his character, kind of the point of the whole film.

>>64702443
>>64702305
Jesus christ. Some fedoras getting rattled because a film questioned their intelligence.

>Nobody kicks ass
>>
>>64702591
Ah, that actually makes sense. Kind of embarrassing that went over my head.
>>
>>64702305
>Am I the only one that feel like they try to talk down to the audience the entire time?

Very distracting from the movie.

Several other documentaries does this much better without devolving into cartoonish caricatures.
>>
better than wolf of wallstreet imo
>>
movie bored me death, wolf of wall street already did it better. its like they made this movie only wanting 50 years olds to watch it
>>
One of the better movies I saw this year. Thought the editing and direction were very creative. Bale and Carell were great. Dialogue was entertaining and funny. Gosling was miscast, though.
>>
autistic bale and carrell were good

most of the wall street explanations were shit
>>
>>64702823
what did wolf of wall street do better?
explain the financial crisis of 2007?
>>
>>64702847
The editing was actually terrible particularly the sound mixing. The 3rd party music overpowered the narration in many scenes and it became very hard to hear crucial bits of dialogue. Whoever did the sound for the movie is an idiot.

People Walking and Talking Fast on Phones: The Motion Picture.
>>
>>64702055
it's very good.

i don't know what to think about those 4th wall breaks. i know it is heavily inspired by the Wolf of Wall Street... Those things are definitely entertaining as fuck, but wasn't it a bit too out of place?

nevertheless best movie 2015 (finally something that isn't nerd-core)
>>
Pretty good movie, Carells best performance.
>>
>>64702886
be a movie

A recorded sequence of film or video images displayed on a screen with sufficient rapidity as to create the illusion of motion and continuity.

Can't see the problem.

Gosling was fucking awful. He has such a goddamn weak voice, it's dissapointing. He needs to develop a deeper voice and it'd suit him better.

Pretty good movie though, Carrell was great
>>

>implying anything was asked
>>
Great movie let down by the patronising 3 minute cameos to explain concepts that had literally just been explained.
Tells an alright story, but you can't help feel that this was made purely to be sold to universities to show in their economics 101 lectures and serve as the gold standard of the financial crises explanations
I also preferred south park's explanation
>>
>>64702663
What I wouldn't give for this movie to become a reality...
and have Gyllenhall show up half-way through as Goose's ex partner in crime
>>

but where did he get the blocks with the letters on them?

Margin call meets Wolf of Wall Street.

Pretty derivative and unimaginative, but entertaining nonetheless.

A good companion piece to the movie is 99 homes, which I do recommend.

This. Carrel was on top form in this, genuinely surprised at how good he was.

Cringe fest. I couldn't even finish it.
>>
>>64703995

You can beat a Jew in a Jewish banker role now, can you?
>>
>>64702055
Pretty good, but just in case you don't understand, here is Margot Robbie taking a bath.
>>
I honestly finished it and thought to myself "This movie is Reddit."

Like was the Selena Gomez scene REALLY NECESSARY?
>>
>>64704143
Average audience needs economic concepts told to them in a very easy way otherwise they will miss the entire point of the movie.

YES IT WAS REALLY NECESSARY you have no idea how dumb the average person is...
>>
>>64704077
Matter of opinion I guess. Didn't know he was a Jew desu, never saw the D R O P P E D guy do one of those pics from wiki on here.
>>
>>64704297
Oh boy, I'm not sure how I got this one so wrong. No, Steve actually isn't a Jew.
